NAMI Vermont is partnering with South Burlington Public Library once again to bring a FREE mental health outreach presentation to the community!

Join us on November 4th, from 6:00- 7:30 p.m., for a night of learning and connection. Our trained volunteer presenters will share their mental health experiences to raise awareness about the impact of mental health conditions, challenge harmful stereotypes about mental health, and inspire hope and healing.

This is a safe space where participants can ask questions, talk about their own experiences, and learn more about local resources.

This event is open to the public, with no registration needed. Feel free to share this opportunity with a close friend, family member, or co-worker who may be interested in learning more about mental health. We hope to see you there!

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day to honor and celebrate the legacy of Indigenous/Native American communities. Please take a moment to learn more about the indigenous land you live on. Vermont currently recognizes these four prominent tribes: the Abenaki Nation of Missisquoi, Elnu Abenaki Tribe, Koasek Traditional Band of the Koas Abenaki Nation, and Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation.

At NAMI Vermont, we recognize that the Vermont Abenaki people have lived and worked on this land since time immemorial. In order to understand that mental health disparities are rooted in historical and ongoing inequities, we encourage everyone to listen, learn, and connect with the rich history, traditions, education, stories, and governance of the Vermont Abenaki people.

During high-stress times such as midterms, it's more important than ever to be aware of your mental health and prioritize well-being as much as possible. That's why NAMI Vermont has partnered with Students Demand Action at Champlain College for Know Your Resources Week!

NAMI Vermont is proud to provide a variety of essential mental health resources, including pamphlets on different mental health conditions; our Resource Guidebook with key information about treatment strategies, state support programs, and crisis management; and brochures about programs like NAMI On Campus, which helps students interested in mental health start their own club: namivt.org/nami-on-campus.

We hope you'll take this opportunity to stop by the table to pick up free materials and learn more about how NAMI Vermont supports youth mental health. NAMI Vermont and other Know Your Resources tables are located outside the dining hall in the IDX Student Life Center through 5 PM this Friday, October 9.

Thank you to Laurel P (seen in the picture giving not one, but TWO thumbs up πŸ‘πŸ‘) at Champlain College for including NAMI Vermont in this educational event. We are always delighted to work with colleges and support youth mental health!

Would you like NAMI Vermont to provide free mental health resources or join your next event? We'd love to hear from you! Contact us at [email protected] or 802-876-7949.

NAMI Vermont is deeply saddened by the news that VAMHAR's federal funding has been revoked.

The Vermont Association for Mental Health and Addiction Recovery has done astounding work in mental health and addiction recovery for 87 years. They have trained over 1,200 peer recovery coaches; built FREE educational programs and organizations such as Camp Daybreak, the Me2 Orchestra, Vermont Alliance for Recovery Residences, the Vermont Recovery Network (and many more); and supported advocacy work at the state and federal levels through Recovery Days and as a staunch partner of Mental Health Advocacy Day, alongside NAMI Vermont and others.

As a longstanding partner of VAMHAR, NAMI Vermont cannot, in good faith, stand by and watch this happen. Mental health concerns, especially those surrounding struggles with addiction, should be met with dignity, support, and resources essential to recovery. Vermonters need more mental health resources, not fewer. We ask that you please join us and our partners across the state in solidarity to uplift and support the great work VAMHAR does: β€œWe have a vision in which all communities actively embrace the full spectrum of the human experience with compassion and acceptance, and where all pathways to healing are celebrated.”

Please share this post widely with your circle of friends, family, and co-workers, and with any business or foundation interested in supporting mental health or becoming a partner with VAMHAR today.

To keep operations running through this difficult transition period, VAMHAR must raise $150,000 by the end of October 2026. Donate at vamhar.org/donate; every little bit counts toward mental health and recovery.

People ask us all the time: what would happen if VAMHAR didn't exist?

We never wanted to find out. But our federal funding is gone, and we're asking Vermont for help.

We've written a letter to our community about where we are, what we've built since 1939, and how you can help.

πŸ“„ Read the letter: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13UTVZ-qnO49UF7ivbqPXUsxvRHO_TA0u/view?usp=sharing

πŸ’™ Give today: vamhar.org/donate

If it speaks to you, please share it with someone who believes in recovery and mental health.
