I wanted to share something from this week’s Times of Wayne County. A recent ad highlighted some of the conversations happening in our community about leadership, service, and the challenges facing our towns. Whether people are talking about work experience, community involvement, or the importance of staying engaged locally, I’m grateful that residents continue to participate and make their voices heard.

Our region is strongest when people stay informed, speak up, and stay involved in the issues that matter to them. I’m sharing the ad here for anyone who didn’t get a chance to see it in the paper.

As a reminder, early primary voting is taking place right now in New York, and Primary Day is June 23. If you plan to vote, it can help to think ahead about when, where, and how you’ll cast your ballot.

I want to take a moment to recognize the community members who recently wrote letters to the editor in the Times of Wayne County. Their willingness to speak up, share their experiences, and participate in local conversations is one of the things that makes our towns strong.

The letters highlight themes many residents talk about every day...the importance of practical problem‑solving, community service, and staying involved in the places we call home. Whether it’s volunteering, supporting local organizations, or contributing through work and leadership, our community is at its best when people step forward and stay engaged.

I’m grateful to everyone who takes the time to write, speak, and participate. Your voices matter, and they help shape the future of our region.

I’ve attached a photo of the three letters for anyone who would like to read them.

We started the morning in Sodus at the Juneteenth celebration, honoring the holiday and remembering Major General Gordon Granger...born right in Sodus...whose order informed Texans that all enslaved people were free. It was powerful to reflect on that history, and we were gifted beautiful watercolor greeting‑card portraits created by children to honor the civil rights movement.

From there, we headed to the Strawberry Festival in Wolcott, joined the parade, and had the chance to meet residents, local law enforcement, firefighters, and EMT professionals who serve our communities every day.

We ended the evening at the Webster Summer Celebration, talking with residents about their experiences and enjoying live music from the original Rochester Zac Brown tribute band.
A whirlwind day, but a rewarding one...full of conversations, history, community pride, and so many wonderful people.

Grateful for the opportunity to join Adam Chodak on News 8 WROC Rochester for a debate focused on the issues that matter most to our communities.

Thank you to the League of Women Voters for helping make this important forum possible.

Elections should be about ideas, solutions, and accountability. I look forward to giving voters a clear look at where I stand and the kind of leadership I will bring.

Tune in tomorrow at 8 PM on News 8 Rochester.

At a public candidate forum, with Assembly, Senate and Congressional candidates, voters asked a straightforward question: would each candidate support the Democratic nominee after the primary?

My primary opponent first said he would not support me if he lost. After every other candidate said they would support the nominee, he changed his answer…

Voters deserve consistency, accountability, and leaders who say what they mean.

They tried to challenge our petitions and remove us from the ballot for the Independent line.

It didn’t work.

Because of the hard work of our volunteers, supporters, and every person who signed, I will be the only candidate on the Independent line for New York State Assembly District 130.

This campaign has always been about giving people a real voice, not just party politics. We are proud of the volunteers who carried petitions, proud of the voters who signed, and proud to stand on the Common Sense line.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.

Today we remember D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Before the invasion, General Dwight D. Eisenhower went out to speak with the paratroopers of the 101st Airborne before they boarded their aircraft. He knew many of them would not come home. Still, they stood ready to jump into darkness for the freedom of people they would never meet.

That moment reminds us what leadership, courage, and service look like. It was not just a military operation. It was a test of resolve, sacrifice, and faith in a greater cause.

We honor the brave Americans and Allied forces who stormed the beaches, jumped behind enemy lines, and helped turn the tide of history. Their courage helped preserve the freedoms we still cherish today.

May we never forget their sacrifice.
