The Williamson Post 394 Memorial Day parade & observance will be Saturday, May 30th. The parade begins at 6:30 pm from the Post on Lake Avenue. Guest speaker is Kate Taylor, Williamson Middle School Principal.

We will be having a Veterans Day dinner at the Post tonight that is free and open to all Veterans. Social time is at 4:30 pm, dinner will be served at 5:00 pm.

A happy 100th birthday to Harold Elmer Stryker, a featured WWII veteran on two of our HONOR FLIGHT HEROES programs (broadcast on Discovery Networks' AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL)! A Purple Heart recipient, Stryker served during the Battle of Okinawa, barely surviving before being ordered to invade the Japanese mainland. Only President Truman's order to drop the atomic bomb likely saved him from certain death, as he was then sent back to the Philippine Islands and then home to the States when the war ended. Harold still lives independently, mowing his huge lawn, driving his big truck, eating a generous breakfast at his favorite restaurant, and generally telling everyone that for his next 100 years he's going to do whatever the hell he wants - because he can!

Today we celebrated our own, Hollywood Harold’s 100th birthday. Harold is one of the few remaining WWII veterans.
Mission Barbeque catered almost 100 people and our senator Pam Helming, and the Wayne County Veterans Service director Samantha Wilson presented very nice Proclamations for his service. If you know Hollywood please wish him Happy Birthday.
