This week, we wanted to give you a glimpse of what happens BEHIND THE SCENES at A Gift From Ashley & Ben!

🚛 We’ve also had some BIG things happening behind the scenes!

One of our delivery trucks has been undergoing major repairs, including a complete engine rebuild! As you can imagine, having our truck out of commission is no small challenge when so much of what we do depends on picking up and transporting food.

❄️ But we also have some exciting news! We’ve received THREE NEW refrigerator/freezer combinations! These wonderful additions will help us safely store more fresh and frozen foods, reduce waste, and better serve the families who depend on us.

While our doors may only be open to the public three days a week, the work NEVER stops!

⏰ Thumpers days begin at 5:00 AM! While much of our community is still sleeping, Thumper and his dedicated volunteers are already on the road by 7am, traveling from store to store, collecting groceries and food donations to help feed our neighbors.

From loading and unloading trucks, sorting groceries, stocking shelves, organizing refrigerators and freezers, and preparing for our open hours, to making deliveries throughout the community on our days off — Thumper and our amazing volunteers work SIX DAYS A WEEK to make sure as many families as possible have food on their tables. ❤️

What many people don’t realize is just how much work goes into helping others. It’s early mornings, long days, heavy lifting, countless miles, volunteers who show up again and again simply because they CARE. Most of all Thumper’s never ending commitment and dedication for over 20 years to help his community.

If you’re in need of food come and see us! You’re allowed to come every day you are in need. Pick up is for whoever is present in the building with you at the time. So if you have a small or large family make sure to bring them with you so you can each get some food! Every day we’re open we have new and different food available. The person sitting at the sign in book will let you know the count for that day. Please remember the count changes based on what we are able to receive each day and we figure it out based on feeding 150-200 people a day, so please be mindful to keep to the count. Some days are better than others but you’re welcome to come back any day we’re open for more!

Thumper and Pierre at Harris Teeter at 8:40 am Saturday morning. Thumper says he met Pierre, who is a bread vendor, about a year ago at Walmart. Pierre has been giving about 100 loaves of bread each week to our Food Bank. Thanks, Pierre!
We're open Monday, September 7th during our normal hours, 12:30–4:30, and the rest of the week: Tuesday, 10:30–11:30 & Friday, 12:30–4:30.

Thumper y Pierre en Harris Teeter a las 8:40 am el sábado por la mañana. Thumper dice que conoció a Pierre, quien es vendedor de pan, hace aproximadamente un año en Walmart. Pierre ha estado donando alrededor de 100 panes cada semana a nuestro Banco de Alimentos. ¡Gracias, Pierre!
