We are excited to begin launching the Christmas Smile Toy Drive.
The Christmas Smile Toy Drive is a toy drive based in Williamsburg, Virginia that is holding it's first community event on December 1, 2024 at the Williamsburg Woodlands Conference Center. This event is free and open to the public. Details are still being finalized but we look to offer a festive environment and help a community in need. All toy donations will be donated to Toys for Tots in Asheville, North Carolina.
Asheville, North Carolina was devastatingly effected by Hurricane Helene and we are grateful for the efforts of the Red Cross, FEMA and every other organization that is helping the community rebuild. Our goal is to put a smile on as many kids faces as we can on Christmas morning and take some of that burden off of the parents and community as a whole while we work from afar. From talking to Toys for Tots, the initial anticipated need for toys is somewhere in between 40,000 and 60,000. While we wish we could meet that goal, we have set an initial goal of collecting 1000 toys to put in a truck to deliver to Toys for Tots to get into the hands of kids.
We will be following the donation guidelines from Toys for Tots that ask for toys for kids ages 1 through 13 with a minimum price of $10. They also ask that the toys be donated unwrapped.
We have launched an online campaign to collect monetary donations that we can put towards event and logistics costs as well as purchasing more toys for kids. We do want to be transparent that there are no salaries as part of this organization and event and logistic costs will be minimal in order to maximize our efforts.
