There’s something special about a community coming together over great food for an even greater cause—and this April, that spirit will be on full display in Wildwood.
Every Thursday throughout the month, from 11 AM to 8 PM, Johnny Longhots Steaks (3115 Pacific Avenue in Wildwood) is partnering with the Wildwood Police Department K-9 Unit to host a fundraiser that’s as simple as it is meaningful. For every cheesesteak purchased during those hours, one dollar will be directly donated to support the K-9 Unit.
With every purchase of a cheesesteak, a portion of the proceeds was donated directly to the Wildwood K-9 Unit. Every bite helps make a difference, contributing to the care and support of the department’s hardworking K-9s.
The funds raised go straight to the essentials that keep these dogs healthy, trained, and ready for duty—providing nutritious food, covering veterinary bills, and ensuring access to proper training equipment. These aren’t luxuries; they’re necessities for dogs that play a critical role in public safety.
Throughout the year, K9 Bane, K9 Stella, and K9 Storm are called into action time and time again. From conducting bomb sweeps to performing narcotic detections, their work is vital, often taking place behind the scenes but always making a real impact. Their dedication and skill help keep the community safe, and events like this ensure they have everything they need to continue doing so.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the fundraiser is that it allows the K-9 Unit to be supported without placing additional burden on taxpayers. Every dollar raised goes directly to sustaining and strengthening the unit—powered by the generosity of the community it serves.
So whether you come for the cheesesteaks, the cause, or just a good time with friends (two-legged and four-legged alike), the message is clear: showing up matters. Bring your fur friends, grab a treat, and be part of something that truly gives back.
