It's been awhile Shlocal Community, holidays, babies, work, etc... Last Saturday at work, I met this guy Steve. He is a Jersey shore local, fellow surfer, and devoted dad. Naturally, him and I hit it off; sharing stories about waves and raising boys. HIS SON GILBY NEEDS OUR HELP! During the last couple of days at work, I have been working with two Amish and one former Mennonite framers/carpenters. Naturally, I made friends with them. Being that it is the Holiday seasons, I hooked them up with some Shlocal t-shirts. I had to ask Justin, the non-Amish guy, if Amish dudes wear t-shirts before I gave them out, and he said that they are allowed to wear them at work. When I gave them the t-shirts, they were all stoked which means that The Shlocal Foundation has infiltrating the Amish Community. How sick is that?

In the wake of the appalling and harrowing events of today, Carrie and I would like to let all of the members of the Shlocal family know that we love you. We send our prayers, thoughts, and energy out to the families and community that has been rocked by today's tragedy. It sucks that moments like this always cause people to hold and appreciate the ones they love more, but take this moment to stare at your little ones a little longer, tell your grade-school buddy you love them, and to call you parents and say thank you. Again, we love all you.

Last night was awesome! Carrie and I were floored by the amount of people who showed up to support the first ever Shlocal Foundation Fundraiser. We would like to thank everyone you from the bottom of my hearts. I know I am sounding super sappy, but it was touching and overwhelming to see and feel the support from all our close friends and family that came out to support the cause.

I have always admired people that take action. Anyone can say they care about the state of the shore, but few will actually take the time and donate their hard-earned money and valuable time to aid in the re-building and restoring of our beloved Jersey beach towns. I admire and am extremely grateful to each of you that attended the event last night and to those that gave to the foundation, even though couldn't make it to the event. The essence of being a Shlocal is giving back and being invested in the shore; you all demonstrated that last night. Thank You!, Thank You!, Thank You! ... But, remember, this is only the beginning. Shlocal never say die!

All right, this is the last post before the first Shlocal event. Carrie and I have everything ready; I hope. The mothership (my mom) will be here soon to watch the boys while we head down to set-up. Remember, Slainte is next to the El stop and across the street from the train station, so be safe and use public trans. I am super stoked for tonight. It is going to be a dominant time! We have 105 likes! Considering we have only been up and running for two weeks, I think it is pretty sick! I want to thank everyone whom has been spreading the word, but I have to encourage the Shlocal community to keep spreading the word, because just like the Gonnies, Shlocals never say die!

I forgot to tell everyone that the dynamic Brothers Callahan, Owen and Jake, will be making a quick appearance at the event. Depending on their moods, their chauffeur (mom-mom) will be taking them to their main event (bedtime) of the evening around 8:30-8:45.

The first lady of Shlocal Crew, a.k.a. The Woman, a.k.a. Carrie, hit the streets of South Jerz and Philly gathering cool stuff to auction off at the event on Saturday. In case you haven't figured it out, she is a hip, hip chick! I can not wait for Saturday night. Did I mention that the events is on Saturday night. The fun starts at 8!
