It’s always a nice day for a swim, especially for a noble cause.

Around 300 participants in the ninth annual Spirit Polar Plunge dove into the icy waters of Grand Lake on June 14 to raise funds for Taking Steps for Cancer. The volunteer organization partners with Mountain Family Center to help Grand County cancer patients cover out-of-pocket medical expenses.

With fun team names like the Sesquicentennial Splashers and Squid Squad, volunteers help make Taking Steps for Cancer events possible. The group hosts fundraising events throughout the year to support local residents battling cancer.
