Our 14th Annual Taking Steps for Cancer 5K & Auction was a tremendous success, raising over $50,000! A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the walk and supported the auction with your purchases. A special thank you goes out to the businesses and individuals who generously contributed auction items, as well as the many team members and volunteers who worked so hard to make the event happen. With your support, we can assist many Grand County residents each year with cancer-related expenses. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is here, and support is closer to home than you might think.

Through our partnership with Taking Steps for Cancer, Mountain Family Center helps cover treatment-related costs for families in Grand County facing a cancer diagnosis. No one should have to navigate this alone, and financial support can make an already difficult season a little more manageable.

With Breast Cancer Awareness Month right around the corner in October, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office is proud to stand with Taking Steps for Cancer and the local families in our community battling this disease.

Join tomorrow, Sunday, September 27 at the Daven Haven Backstreet Steakhouse in Grand Lake, for the 14th Annual 5K and Auction!

Grand County cancer patients often face significant out-of-pocket medical costs, lost income, and long travel distances for specialist care. Every dollar raised stays right here at home—through Taking Steps for Cancer’s partnership with the Mountain Family Center, over $225,000 is raised annually to cover essentials like gas, lodging, groceries, copays, and screenings.

📍 Daven Haven Lodge (604 Marina Drive, Grand Lake)

• 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM: In-Person Registration (or register online!)

• 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Silent Auction

• 10:00 AM: 5K Race Start

• 11:30 AM: Community Lunch

• 12:00 PM: Live Auction
