Hi. I’m Max. Please Read This Whole Thing, I Worked Really Hard On I!
I’m 11 months old, about 60 pounds, and technically a lab/collie mix, but I’m pretty sure I’m also part bully breed, part golden retriever, and part tornado. Nobody’s confirmed it. I’m just choosing to believe it.
Things I’m great at:
• Playing. Every minute. All of them.
• Kisses. I will give you ALL of them. Resistance is futile!
• Sitting in your lap. I know I’m 60 pounds. I don’t care. You have a lap. I have a need.
• Hanging out in my crate. I just close my eyes and go. No complaints. You’ll forget I’m there.
• Baths. Water? Great. Bubbles? Even better. I’m a very good customer.
• Being housebroken. Yes, really. I’m as surprised as you are.
Things I’m still working on (my foster mom said I should be honest):
• Walking on a leash. I’m not walking you, I’m towing you. We’re working on it.
• The kitchen counter. I’m not stealing, I’m just investigating what’s up there. Thoroughly. With my mouth.
• When I get excited, I jump on you and get a little nibbly. It’s love. It’s just a lot of love. I’m trying to learn to love you with all four feet on the floor.
My story: I lived at a shelter in West Virginia for a really long time (apparently I was their longest resident, which feels like a weird thing to be famous for). My first family moved and didn’t take me with them. That’s okay! I’ve moved on. Now I live in a foster home with some very patient humans and some other dogs. I LOVE the other dogs. They’re less sure about me on account of my exuberance. I’m giving them time. I’m also giving them my toys, whether they want them or not.
What I’m looking for: A patient grown-up who thinks a goofy, loving dog is worth a little training. I’d do best with older kids, since I play hard and sometimes forget that little people are breakable. I promise I’m not trying to be rude. I just have a lot of feelings in my legs.
I’m easygoing, I’m silly, and I’m so, so ready for a family of my own. I’ll even learn to walk nicely. Probably. Eventually. I’ll try!
