Wetumpka 14U All-Stars Blank Birmingham Young Barons 6-0
The Wetumpka 14U All-Stars delivered a complete team performance Sunday, shutting out the Birmingham Young Barons 14U by a score of 6-0.
Wetumpka wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, breaking the game open in the bottom of the first inning. Wyatt Taylor sparked the offense with a clutch triple that drove in two runs, while an error allowed another run to cross the plate, giving Wetumpka an early 3-0 advantage.
The All-Stars continued to apply pressure in the third inning, adding two more runs after Cooper Clayton ripped a double down the left-field line. Wetumpka’s offense was efficient throughout the contest, capitalizing on scoring opportunities and maintaining control from start to finish.
On the mound, George Childers was dominant for Wetumpka. The right-hander tossed five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out seven batters and walking two. Childers kept Birmingham off balance all game and never allowed the Young Barons to mount a serious threat.
