Fundraising for an accessible van for Dallas!

Today is Dallas's 13th birthday! Thanks to our accessible van, we were able to take everyone to meet his cousins at his favorite restaurant–Hattie B's in Birmingham!

Dallas has an accessible van! 🎉

This would not have happened if it weren't for the generosity of family, friends, complete strangers and the Jett Foundation! We don't have the words to appropriately thank everyone for all that they have done for our family. This will make Dallas's whole life so much easier AND safer.

We also want to take a moment to thank Toni at the Superior Van & Mobility - Montgomery Al location! She was so thorough with paperwork, made sure the van was fully detailed and in perfect shape before we picked it up. Whatever Superior is paying you, they need to double it, ma'am!

We also want to show our appreciation to Carroll Productions Photo + Film for donating their time and expertise in documenting this huge moment for us.

WE HAVE NEWS!! 🥳🎉

Dallas is getting an accessible van! We literally could not have done it alone. If everyone had not donated, shared or helped our events, this would have been impossible. If Jett Foundation had not picked our family, offered their guidance or matched donations, this would have been impossible.

Thank you to everyone that heard Dallas’s story and helped in any way that they could. We aren’t sure of the exact date we will receive it—the Jett Foundation is still waiting on a few checks to come in the mail—but a deposit has been put down on a van and shipping is getting worked out!

We can’t wait to update with a photo of Dallas in his new van 🥹😭

Thank you, everyone for checking on Dallas lately after his surgery! He felt well enough to get out and about today. ❤️ Getting “out and about” with him will get so much easier and safer soon with our new van!!

Van Update: Thank you for the donations! We’ve rasied a little over $1300 on the past week! We will likely have to rent an accessible van to get him home from the hospital, so we may post a video later just to illustrate how they work.

General update on Dallas: He is uncomfortable since lowering his pain meds after surgery, but still doing well. They are keeping an eye on his oxygen levels.

We started PT yesterday on how to lift him/move him now after his infusion. His face swelling has gone down quite a bit, but his right side is still a little puffy.

Thank you to everyone that has called, texted and messaged to check on Dallas with his spinal fusion! His surgery went really well!

His heart and lungs are strong and now his back is bionic. 😂 He is doing great with the post-surgery process. He’s in a little pain but being a trooper—in usual Dallas fashion.

His spinal fusion will help keep his lungs healthy and stronger for a lot longer, but will also make moving him a lot more difficult from here on out.
