🎨 Meet the Artist: Jill Chronister

We are honored to introduce another artist in the America250 Westerville Mural Project!

Jill Chronister is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ashland, Ohio, known for creating imaginative, story-driven murals that blend realism with a touch of whimsy. Through both traditional and digital mediums, her work celebrates community, history, and the
meaningful details that connect people to place.

For the America250 Westerville Mural Project, Jill has created two murals inspired by the evolving landscapes and shared experiences that have shaped Westerville across generations.

Her mural, “Footprints Across Time,” explores Westerville’s history of fairs, festivals, and amusement parks, capturing the excitement of gathering spaces once filled with electric trolleys, glowing attractions, county fairs, and community traditions. Through
layered storytelling, the mural reflects how places evolve over time while the human desire for connection and belonging remains constant.

Her second mural, “The Quiet Renewal of Nature,” honors the relationship between industry, land, and renewal. Inspired by Westerville’s wetlands, the piece reflects how land once used for brick making transformed over time into thriving natural spaces filled with wildlife, curiosity, and new life.

Through subtle symbolism, warmth, and thoughtful visual storytelling, Jill’s murals invite viewers to look closer and discover the connections between past and present woven throughout Westerville’s landscape.

🎨 Meet the Artist: Jackie Jeromin

We’re excited to introduce a third artist in the America250 Westerville Mural Project!

Jackie Jeromin is an Ohio-based artist who embraces variety—playing with color and style from hyper-colorful to minimal palettes, and from realism to surrealism, often with a sense of whimsy. She works across multiple mediums including oils, acrylics, and digital illustration, and in recent years has expanded into mural work. Her work has been featured in exhibitions across Ohio, including the Ohio State Fair, where she placed 2nd in the 2025 Live Mural Competition.

Her America250 Westerville mural"Treats from The Past" will bring the theme of Fun Makers to life through a vibrant and imaginative concept centered around a gumball machine.

Each colorful gumball reveals a moment from Westerville’s past—highlighting the toys and games once manufactured right here in the community. Inside, you’ll find scenes like a bowling ball striking pins, a child playing with a Kilgore toy truck, a hand arranging dollhouse furniture, and a boy riding a GoCycle.

The gumballs act as small windows into the past, each one hinting at a larger story and reflecting just a portion of the creativity, innovation, and joy found throughout Westerville’s history.

A colorful reminder that even the smallest moments of play can carry a much larger story.

🎨 Meet the Artist: Dexter Komakaru |

We’re excited to introduce another artist in the America250 Westerville Mural Project!

Dexter Komakaru is the artist and creative force behind DXTROSE, an independent visual arts practice rooted in Central Ohio. His work draws from his Mexican and Native American identities, blending multigenerational storytelling, bold visual language, and community-driven art.

His America250 Westerville mural, “MVSKOKE,” will tell the story of Muscogee (Creek) Nation students who came to Westerville in the late 1870s as part of the Youth-in-the-States program—using education as a tool for sovereignty.

Through layered visual storytelling, the mural weaves together traditional Muscogee patterns, historical maps, Dawes Rolls, and the sacred sweet gum leaf—creating a deeply rooted, place-based narrative.

A powerful reminder of resilience, adaptability, and the enduring connection to home, no matter the distance.

Her America250 Westerville mural, “Good Citizens,” will reflect the spirit of service and innovation that shapes our community—honoring those, past and present, who uplift others through compassion, resilience, and care. A citywide canvas is coming to life across Westerville.

The America250 Westerville Mural Project is a public art experience designed to honor and reflect on the untold stories that have shaped our community—past and present.

This summer, 12 vinyl murals will be installed throughout Westerville, each inspired by themes that bring these stories to light and connect local history, people, and place.

This initiative is led through a collaborative partnership between:
⭐City Government of Westerville, Ohio
⭐Visit Westerville
⭐Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce
⭐Otterbein University
⭐Westerville Public Library & Westerville History Museum
⭐Westerville Historical Society

This project is made possible through funding support from America 250-Ohio ,Ohio Arts Council and The Westerville Fund.

📍 Join us on June 26 at the Fourth Friday Festival on Hanby Lawn as we mark the official kickoff of the project and share what’s ahead.

👣 A digital mural trail will also launch this summer—making it easy to explore each mural and the stories behind them.
