October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! CHD Cancer House of Hope member Ruth Chappel almost ignored scheduling her annual mammogram last January. “My doctor was retiring, and she set me up for an appointment, and I said to myself, ‘Maybe I won’t even bother,’ because I get a mammogram every year, and I’ve been fine,” she said. “I almost didn’t go. I’m glad I went.”

For the past 33 years, Rays of Hope - Walk & Run Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer has been an important resource in the western Massachusetts community, raising funds that stay local to support breast cancer care, research, and education.

We are incredibly appreciative of Rays of Hope for recently awarding CHD’s Cancer House of Hope a $15,000 community partner agency grant.

This holiday season, join us on December 7 for a special evening of remembrance, celebration, and hope. Together, we’ll honor loved ones whose lives have been touched by cancer—those we remember, those currently in treatment, and those in remission or recovery.

As 1,000 luminaries light up the West Springfield Town Common, they’ll create a glowing tribute to the love, strength, and resilience of our community.

Luminaria is open to the public from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Event parking is available at the West Springfield Senior Center, 128 Park St.

Purchase your Luminaries at https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/donor-form/?svcid=renxt&formId=10b60b39-34c8-4339-94a0-0330b1746afe&envid=p-jIKTIUKm_kiyONd-sDmHdA&zone=usa
