The WPVFD is an all-volunteer, nonprofit emergency services organization, founded in 1947, providing fire protection and all-hazard emergency response to West Pawlet, VT and surrounding communities. Fire Department responds 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to fires and other emergencies in West Pawlet. We also assist the fire departments of other surrounding communities through a system of mutual a

id, enhancing preparedness throughout the area. Our department is one of nine fire departments in Vermont dispatched by the Washington County Department of Public Safety. We are an all-volunteer outfit, comprised entirely of citizens who donate their time without compensation. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, financed in part by taxes allocated by the town, in part by fundraising events, and in part by the generous donations of individuals and businesses in our area.

This afternoon at 16:31, WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Wells Vol FD for a Fire Alarm activation at the Wells Village School.
First arriving Wells units determined the alarm was caused by ongoing construction and there was no emergency.
All units returned to service at 16:41. YTD= 56

This afternoon at 16:35, WPVFD was dispatched along with Hartford, Middle Granville and North Granville Fire Departments for a Second Alarm assignment on a Commercial Structure Fire in the Granville Fire District, reported smoke in the building.
Engine- 582 and Tanker- 583 responded with crews.
Arriving Granville Fire units determined the issue to be with an air handler and no active fire.
Mutual Aid units were returned to service at 16:56. YTD= 55

Tonight at 20:46, WPVFD had our 5th call in less than 36 hours. This time we were dispatched on AMA with Wells Vol FD for a residential fire alarm activation on West Lake Rd in the Wells district.
The cause of the alarm was determined to be a cooking mishap and all units were returned to service at 21:09. YTD= 54

This morning @ 11:48, WPVFD alond with Granville Rescue Squad, Inc., Granville Engine & Hose and Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department all as part of M.V.A. protocol, were dispatched for an iPhone Crash Notification on Buttons Falls Rd in West Pawlet.
Responders found no crash in the area but did find a purse containing an iPhone that was dropped or fell from a vehicle.
All units were returned to service at 12:04. YTD= 53

Tonight at 19:54, WPVFD had our third call of the afternoon. WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department for trees and power lines down on Tinmouth Mountain Drive in the Pawlet district.
Engine-582 responded with a crew. First arriving Pawlet units found limbs on wires in the area but no need for fire crews. Green Mountain Power was notified and all PVFD and WPVFD units were returned to service at 20:18. YTD= 52

A busy couple of hours this afternoon for WPVFD. At 14:08, WPVFD dispatched on AMA with Wells Vol FD for a report of high levels of propane in a residence off North Street in Wells. Propane Company on scene requested fire department for ventilation. E-582 & ETA-581 responded to this call.
While on the scene of that incident, WPVFD and Pawlet Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched for trees and power lines down on Betts Bridge Road in the West Pawlet district. Attack-584 & Pawlet Units responded to this call.
All units were cleared of both calls and returned to service at 15:17. YTD= 50 & 51.
*** A HUGE shout out to Washington County, NY - Department of Public Safety dispatchers for once again doing a SPECTACULAR JOB of dispatching multiple departments for multiple storm related calls many going on simultaneously. ***

This afternoon at 15:50, WPVFD was dispatched on AMA with Wells VFD for a CO Alarm activation in the Wells Fire District.
Wells Car-57 requested WPVFD to stand by in station while Wells Fire units responded. The situation was under control and all WPVFD units returned to service at 16:16. YTD= 49
