In early 2015, the Be Brave for Life Foundation started as a vision from a little girl's hospital bed. We just celebrated its third full calendar year, 2018, as a non-profit organization. Be Brave is already making a significant impact by helping to fund cutting edge cavernous malformation and non-cancerous brain tumor research. Remarkably, since our founding in July 2015, we have raised $500,000

to support research for a cure. When Dr. Edward Smith, Director of Pediatric Cerebrovascular Neurosurgery at Boston Children’s Hospital heard of this achievement he said, “This is a real testament to both [founder] Riley’s tenacity, the grassroots organization, and how much people care about these conditions and the kids [like Riley] who are being affected by them.” In late 2017, we started to offer one year micro-grant(s) of up to $20,000 for research pilot project and bridge funding.

Earlier today Riley presented Dr Edward Smith, Vice Chair of Neurosurgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, with $35,000 grant to support his labs research on better treatment options for patients with cerebral cavernous malformations.
