We broke ground on The Refuge Utah! 🌱

Last Thursday, October 1, partners, neighbors, and friends gathered in Orem to start building a new Center for Women and Children in Crisis: a safe place to land and a path forward for families who need it most.

Getting to this day took a lot of planning. Over the past few weeks, The Refuge Utah team, HomeAid Utah, Hadco Construction, and Stout Building Contractors sat down together to map out everything from the build team and schedule to how construction will respect the neighbors around the site.

Thank you to The Refuge Utah, Stout Building Contractors, Hadco Construction, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us. 💚

There's power in learning from one another! 💙

Yesterday, our HomeAid Utah team attended the Utah Nonprofits Association Annual Conference, connecting with fellow nonprofit leaders and exploring ways to strengthen our collective impact.

Through sessions focused on legal planning, board strategy, and nonprofit leadership, we gained valuable insights to bring back to our work.

We're grateful to be part of a community committed to learning, collaborating, and creating lasting change.

Together, we're building a future without homelessness.

A special moment from our September 23 board meeting. 💙

HomeAid Utah presented a $10,689.05 check to Utah Foster Care, made possible through a portion of the online donations received during our annual Diaper Drive.

These funds, generously contributed by HomeAid Utah partners and donors, will support Utah foster families and children in their care.

We were joined by Utah Foster Care representatives Gina Phillips, Jenny Hill, and Tami Carson, along with Sarah Allred, Director of First Lady Initiatives. The presentation took place during our board meeting hosted by Matt Cragun with Tri Pointe Homes.

Support from the August 14 Diaper Drive also benefited Utah Food Bank, Neighborhood House, and Family Support Center—extending the generosity of our community to families across Utah.

Thank you to every donor, partner, board member, committee member, and supporter who helped make this impact possible. 💙

Lasting stability takes both a safe place to live and the support to move forward.

This week, HomeAid Utah joined state and community leaders at the Utah State Capitol for the launch of the Recovery Utah Initiative, bringing partners together around homelessness, addiction, behavioral health, recovery, and long-term stability.

For HomeAid Utah, the day also brought exciting support for what comes next: $105,000 toward our next Milestone Transitional Living Program renovation.

Milestone provides young adults ages 18–21 aging out of foster care with stable housing, employment support, and life skills training—bringing housing and supportive services together to help young people build greater stability and independence.

We’re grateful to the partners investing in both the spaces people need and the support that helps them thrive.

Together, we’re building a future without homelessness.

These Phase 1 homes were made possible by builders, trade partners, donors, and community members who believe housing can be the foundation for stability, connection, and belonging.

Today, HomeAid Utah joins communities across the country in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the bravery of first responders, the service of those who answered the call, and the countless acts of compassion that followed.

May we continue to build communities rooted in service, unity, and care for one another.

We’re excited to share an important step forward for one of HomeAid Utah’s current projects.

Stout Building Contractors has partnered with us as Builder Captain for our work with The Refuge Utah, helping bring a new facility for survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children to life.

The Refuge provides critical shelter and support for individuals and families who may otherwise be left without a safe place to go. This new facility will help expand that capacity and provide space for emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management, and other essential services.

We’re incredibly grateful for Stout’s leadership and commitment to making this project a priority.

As we move toward the October 1 groundbreaking, we’re also inviting Utah’s construction industry to join us by contributing donated or discounted materials, labor, services, and expertise.

It takes a community to build lasting change—and we’re grateful to be building this one together. 🏠
