On this National Day of Racial Healing, we reflect on the work still required to confront historic and ongoing racial injustice.

For Indigenous communities, healing begins with truth, acknowledging the harms of forced displacement, land theft, and Indian boarding school policies and their lasting impacts on survivors and descendants.

These harms are not only historical. With the ongoing violence we are seeing from immigration enforcement in the United States, we continue to experience and witness the same patterns of violence toward relatives with practices of family separation, forced removal, and dehumanization—expressions of state sanctioned displacement and trauma that have long affected our communities.

Today we recognize and honor our collective effort toward truth, justice, and healing for all our relatives.

Join us in advancing truth, justice, and healing on this day of reflection and action.
