The most meaningful part of ADAY4THEJ wasn’t just the generosity — it was the reminder of how many lives are touched by the JCC community every day. 💙

In the weeks ahead, we’ll be sharing stories from members, families, participants, and friends about the friendships, growth, support, and belonging they’ve found at the J.

Because this is what the J is really about.

Today, we begin with Mary Egan.

When Mary joined the Mandell JCC, she was looking for a place to stay active. What she found was much more.

Over the years, she has built not just one, but several circles of friends through the J — from swimming partners who meet for breakfast after workouts to friends who gather for game nights, theater outings, and HIIT classes.

“It’s just... like-minded people,” Mary says. “People who want to stay healthy, stay active, and keep improving themselves.”

For Mary, those connections have been transformative, providing friendship, motivation, and a sense of belonging that keeps her coming back year after year.
