June 20th is World Refugee Day!

This summer marks the 4th year of Des Moines Refugee Support’s initiative, Women of the World! We’re proud to empower refugee women by helping them sell delicious baked goods, unique spices, and aromatic teas at local farmers markets.

Through mentoring, community building, and fostering financial stability, we are supporting 17 incredible women this season at over 30 area markets.

Women of the World will have 2 new items tonight at the Valley Junction Farmers Market.

🫶A new spice blend. Made by sisters Hazifa and Medina, this masala spice is great for anyone who is looking for a spicy blend to add to their cabinet. It has some heat, but not too much.

🫶Turkish bagels made by Monika. This is a baked bagel with a bit of sweetness and sesame seeds. What makes it a little sweet? A pomegranate molasses wash after baking. Yum!

We are bringing back Qatlama and Chapati tonight too. Stop by our stand in Valley Junction tonight!

AI isn't always intelligent. Despite what Google is saying, WE ARE ON FOR THE FARMERS MARKET TONIGHT. 4-8pm, tons of vendors, entertainment, and a car show! Bike racks will be set up by the concert in Railroad Park.
