It’s the final day for our team in Iceland! 🇮🇸
Over the past week, students engaged in environmental stewardship and forestry work while integrating their experiences with honors-level academic reflection and coursework. From conversations around sustainability and community development to exploring Reykjavík as a living example of urbanization and cultural identity, the classroom looked a little different this week.

Hard to beat walking Rainbow Road as part of a case study in urban planning and social change, right?

Tomorrow the team begins the journey home to New York City and Grenada!

And we are here! 🇮🇸☀️ team is in the house. Nothing like a walk down Rainbow Road to kick the jet lag.

Our early arrival even got to preview some of the sights with our fabulous instructor Jenny!

Sunshine, sightseeing, good vibes… and now some sleep ✌🏾

The sun is still shining on us even though our 2026 Purpose Expedition has come to a close ☀️

We wrapped up the week with a day around the Golden Circle, one final Table Talk, bonfires, wandering Reykjavík, and honestly… just a lot of joy.

Somewhere between the volcanic landscapes of Krýsuvík, late night conversations, service projects, and the specific kind of exhausted delirium that kicks in halfway through the week, this group became something really meaningful. Not just over the last seven days, but over the months we’ve spent journeying together since November.

Grateful for the memories, the laughter, the depth, the growth, and all the weird little moments that somehow become the ones you remember most. Turns out volcanic landscapes and homemade bread will do something to a group of people.

We’re SO grateful for all our partners (👀 !) who made this possible and to EACH OF YOU who were a part of this special cohort.

Special thanks to for funding this incredible journey!

Our Purpose Expedition program is nearing the end of their week in Iceland 🌋

Did you know Iceland sits in the path of major North Atlantic Ocean currents? This means that trash and marine debris from across the Atlantic can wash up on its shores. Which is both fascinating and also a little horrifying when you’re standing on a black sand beach holding a water bottle that definitely did not begin its life in Iceland.

That’s where Compass groups come in! We didn’t put the trash there but someone’s got to pick it up. Especially before our seal friends do (whom we get to meet, quite often).

Of course, when you’re not picking trash up off the beach and communing with the seals you meet, you’re OBVIOUSLY hiking up a volcano. Right? RIGHT?

And if you hike up a volcano you must come down it. And if you must come down it, then why not slide...

So between volcano hikes, learning to make bread, Compass Time overlooking lupine fields JUST about ready to burst purple, and some good old fashioned Table Talk, we’d say the week has been pretty decent.

When the sun shines in Iceland, it SHINES ☀️

Our Purpose Expedition crew has officially landed and is settling in at Krýsuvík with .

Jet lag doesn’t stand a chance against smiles like these and views like this.
Hike a volcano? Yes please.
Sulfuric hot springs? Questionable smell, undeniable 10/10.

Strong first day out here… might nod off during Table Talk but þetta reddast ✌🏾

We talk a lot about modeling healthy social media use… so we’re going to actually do it.

After a full (and very good) March, we’re stepping away for a short social media sabbatical.

We’ll be celebrating Easter, leaning into the start of spring, and getting ready for a full stretch of trips in May and June.

We love sharing stories from the journey with you. That’s not going anywhere.

We’ll just be living them off screen for a bit.

brb — even the elves need a break 🧝‍♂️

See you later this month.

It’s been an incredible week with our group from and

We’re living and working at an eco village in South Iceland, moving from indoor painting projects that bring life and color to the space to time in the greenhouses—harvesting tomatoes and planting oak seedlings. In between, we’ve explored the Golden Circle and South Coast: waterfalls, Icelandic horses, and views that don’t feel real.

And still, somehow, there’s been plenty of time for table talk and late-night conversations.

March weather here continues to be what Icelanders might call “skrítið og brjálað veður” (strange and crazy weather). On Thursday, roads across the south were closed due to ice. But that unpredictability does something to you—it grounds you. It reminds you that we’re not separate from the world around us. We’re part of it. Dependent on it. Responsible for it.

Life feels a little more honest in a place this open and windswept.

Þetta reddast.
It’ll all work out.

And somehow, it always does.

Dear Collab (.iceland),

Plz stop ghosting us.

We’ve shared too much at this point… long drives, late nights, dance parties, deep conversations, and at least 3 per person PER DAY. You’ve been there for all of it. Don’t act like this doesn’t mean something.

We know you’ve seen the messages.
We know you’ve thought, “wow… they seem awesome.”
We know this is mutual.

“Compass, sponsored by Collab.”
…doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?

We’re ready to take the next step.
Are you?

Love,
Compass 💛

Our crew from is nearing the end of their week in Iceland 🇮🇸

Partnering with our friends , they’ve done a little bit of everything: volunteering with the Red Cross, learning about conservation efforts (including the complicated conversations around the whaling industry), and pitching in for beach and city clean-ups.

In between the work, there’s been plenty of what makes these trips special… laughter, deep conversations, waterfalls, dancing, and the kind of moments you can’t quite plan for. They even jumped in to help set up for a Global Leadership Summit with the Salvation Army.

It’s been a full week, and we LOVE our Elms friends. Thanks for showing up ready to serve, learn, and be part of the story.
