We had twenty-eight hard workers turn out for our Make a Difference Day event in Blackburn Park. Vince Huening divided them into three crews, and they accomplished a lot in just three hours. Thanks to all, including 7 Rotarians and a whopping 21 friends, family, and community volunteers! 🥰

World Polio Day was established on October 24 by Rotary International to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, whose team developed the first polio vaccine. Beginning in 1955, Salk’s inactivated poliovirus vaccine and Albert Sabin’s subsequent oral vaccine led to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) in 1988, and a 99% reduction of polio worldwide just 70 years later.

Each year, Rotarians around the globe observe World Polio Day, joined by public health advocates and individuals committed to eliminating polio from the face of the Earth. You can be part of this remarkable story by donating to Rotary’s PolioPlus Fund.

All donations will be matched 2:1 by The Gates Foundation, tripling your impact:

Every donation provides vaccines, transportation, and essential materials to protect children and stop the spread of polio.
