In this presentation, Erin will cover sustainable agriculture and food insecurity topics, both generally and locally. She will speak to urban agriculture's potential as a holistic solution to environmental justice and food insecurity concerns in St. Louis. She will also speak about Urban Harvest STL's mission of building community around inclusive and resilient local food systems.
Erin, the Development Manager at Urban Harvest STL, has seen many sides of urban farming in her quest to gain a complete understanding of sustainable agriculture, food insecurity, and their intersections. After working with a sustainable urban farm and studying the agricultural systems in school, Erin pursued an AmeriCorps VISTA position in St. Louis to gain an understanding of this specific community and its needs. Erin has worked as a farm hand, an educator, a volunteer coordinator, and now holds an administrative development role. She feels that her well-rounded understanding of urban farming will help her to realize well- rounded solutions to the food justice issues in St. Louis.
