MI SIBS What is MI SIBS? What is the purpose of MI SIBS? What is the goal of MI SIBS? Our goal is to support siblings of people with disabilities in Michigan.

MI SIBS (Michigan Supporting & Including Brothers & Sisters) is a network of siblings who share the common experience of having a sibling with a disability in the state of Michigan. MI SIBS (Michigan Supporting & Including Brothers & Sisters) is a network of siblings who share the common experience of having a sibling with a disability. The purpose is to provide adult siblings of individuals with

disabilities with information, resources and support to advocate with and/or for their brothers and sisters and to promote leadership roles of siblings within the disability community. We offer peer support that may generate opportunities for emotional growth, can aid in making connections with services and supports from those who have “been there,” and promote a stronger and more fulfilling bond within the family unit.

Michigan has mandated that direct care workers be paid $17.13 per hour as of January 1, 2026, a $13.73 base minimum wage plus a $3.40 passthrough increase.

The Direct Care Worker Wage Coalition needs your support.

Direct care workers help people with disabilities, older adults, and others live independently in their communities. Yet many of these essential workers continue to face low wages, making it difficult to recruit and retain the workforce people rely on every day.

Michigan has already committed to raising direct care worker wages to $18.50 per hour. Now lawmakers need to fully fund that commitment in the FY27 state budget.

Join us at the Lansing Shuffle on June 23, 2026, for the opening reception of the Breaking Barriers Art Exhibit. Artwork by artists with developmental disabilities from across Michigan will be featured in the exhibit.
