Ryan's Case for Smiles is devoted to helping sick children with life changing illnesses feel better to heal better. That’s a similar rate of PTSD to all U.S.

Ryan’s Case for Smiles is dedicated to helping sick children cope with the stress of life changing illnesses and injuries. We provide children with whimsical pillowcases throughout North America to give them an emotional boost and hope that enhances their emotional well-being. A hospital stay can be a terrifying experience for a child. So terrifying that 20% of children who survive cancer meet the

full clinical diagnosis of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Military Veterans since the Vietnam war. The good news is our whimsical pillowcases actually provide children with seven proven stress relievers during their hospital stays. These stress relievers include: 1. Comfort 2. Distraction / Play 3. Choice/ Control 4. Familiarity 5. Expression 6. Connection 7. Hope Our new partnerships with the nation's leading child psychologists are helping us develop and distribute coping tools for families, with a goal to help children feel better to heal better. With every stitch, every yard of fabric and every pillowcase, we get one step closer to our goal of helping kids with life changing illnesses or injuries, feel better to heal better.

A round of applause and heartfelt shout out to one of our longest-standing volunteers Debbie Snapp. Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with Debbie and she donated a grand total of 720 pillowcases to our Philadelphia chapter!!

It’s hard to put into words the impact that a donation like Debbie’s will have. Behind every pillowcase is a reminder that someone cares, a brighter moment during a difficult time, and little extra comfort for a child facing a life threatening illness or injury.

From the bottom of our hearts thank you for sewing with love and giving so generously year after year!

Pillowcases are pouring in as we work towards our goal of sewing 40,000 in the month of September- one to represent every child undergoing cancer treatment in North America. Just 4 days into the month, and the pillowcase counter is at 1,270 thanks to early donations from generous volunteers in Maine, Alabama, and Pennsylvania! Want to get involved? 💛
