What a fulfilling day! ❤️

Today’s Chicken Giveaway brought volunteers, staff, partners, and neighbors together for a great cause. From getting everything ready to helping with pickup, every helping hand made a difference.

Family First Center of Lake County thanks everyone who gave their time, energy, and care, along with our partners at Hunger Resource Network and PADS Lake County, Inc.

We’re ending the day with grateful hearts and a reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together. Thank you for showing up for our community!

La entrega de pollo de hoy reunió a voluntarios, personal, colaboradores y vecinos para apoyar una buena causa. Desde preparar todo hasta ayudar con la entrega, cada persona que echó la mano hizo la diferencia.

What a great start to the day! 💙

Our volunteers and workers showed up ready to lend a hand at today’s Chicken Giveaway! From unloading trucks to getting everything ready, the morning began with teamwork and a shared goal: helping our neighbors.

These are just a few pictures from the start of the day, with more to come! Thank you to everyone helping Family First Center of Lake County support our community. We’re looking forward to a wonderful rest of the day together!

We're kicking off at 8:00 AM at People's Choice Family Fun Center! Please take a moment to review the map below before you arrive — it shows the full pickup route so we can keep things moving smoothly for everyone.

A few quick reminders:
✅ Follow the cones and staff directions at all times
Wait for staff to direct you to your assigned lane
✅ Stay in your vehicle and follow the green arrows on your way out
✅ Belvidere Road access is limited — please use the marked entrance and exit only

🌱 Planting Today for a Greener Tomorrow!

Family First Center of Lake County was proud to take part in the Lakefront Landing Bird Habitat event at the Waukegan Lakefront!

Our team rolled up their sleeves alongside community volunteers to plant native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers, helping create a welcoming habitat for birds migrating along Lake Michigan.

A big thank-you to the organizers, community partners, and everyone who came together to make a positive difference in our community!

🌱 ¡Sembrando hoy para un mañana más verde!

¡En Family First Center of Lake County nos dio mucho gusto participar en el evento Lakefront Landing Bird Habitat, a orillas del lago Michigan en Waukegan!

Nuestro equipo se puso manos a la obra junto con otros voluntarios de la comunidad para plantar árboles, arbustos y flores nativas, ayudando a crear un espacio donde las aves migratorias puedan encontrar alimento y refugio.

¡Muchas gracias a los organizadores, colaboradores y a todas las personas que pusieron su granito de arena para hacer algo bonito por nuestra comunidad!

The Family First Center of Lake County, Hunger Resource Network, and PADS Lake County are teaming up to distribute 70,000 pounds of frozen chicken to families in our community and they need volunteers!

Mamas, let’s meet up for some Halloween fun! 🧡

There’s already a community Halloween event happening at Bowen Park, and we thought it would be a fun opportunity for our Running on Love moms to bring the kids, meet up, trick-or-treat, and enjoy the afternoon together.

No formal meeting. No agenda. Just moms, kids, costumes, candy, and a chance to connect outside of our usual Mom’s Circle.
Come dressed up, bring the kiddos, and come hang out with us!

This month, we’re creating space to talk about healthy relationships, boundaries, self-worth, and what it means to stay strong and grounded when life gets heavy.

We’ll be joined by A Safe Place for an honest conversation about healthy relationships, recognizing unhealthy patterns, knowing your worth, and building a life that feels safe and healthy.

Then we’re turning our attention toward the future with vision boards. A chance to dream again. To think about what you want, where you’re going, and the woman you’re becoming.

Because being a mom doesn’t mean losing yourself.

You deserve peace. You deserve healthy love. You deserve support. And you deserve a life that feels good to YOU. ✨

Este mes vamos a crear un espacio para hablar sobre relaciones saludables, límites, amor propio y lo que significa mantenernos fuertes y con los pies en la tierra cuando la vida se pone difícil.

Nos acompañará A Safe Place para tener una conversación honesta sobre relaciones saludables, reconocer patrones que no nos hacen bien, conocer nuestro valor y construir una vida que se sienta segura y saludable.

What a wonderful day celebrating culture and community! 🎉

Family First Center joined Woodland District 50’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Woodland Middle School on October 3. At our resource table, we connected with families and shared helpful information alongside other community organizations.

From musical performances to student artwork, including monarch butterfly art and Frida Kahlo-inspired portraits, there was so much to celebrate!

Thank you to Woodland District 50 and everyone who stopped by our table. 💛

Family First Center participó en la Celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana de Woodland District 50 en Woodland Middle School el 3 de octubre. En nuestra mesa de recursos, convivimos con las familias y compartimos información útil junto a otras organizaciones de la comunidad.

Family First Center was out in the community for the Illinois Black Alliance Chamber of Commerce (ILBACC) North Region kickoff at Big Ed’s BBQ in Waukegan! 💙

It was an opportunity to connect with local business owners, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Thank you to the organizers for bringing everyone together and to those who represented Family First Center. We’re happy to be part of the connections that help our Lake County community grow!
