🌈 Get to Know Rainbow: Growing Through New Experiences

Rainbow gives girls opportunities to try things they may not have done before.

That can mean speaking in front of a group, helping plan an event, taking on a leadership role, participating in a service project, meeting new people, or simply stepping outside their comfort zone.

Not every girl starts out feeling confident — and that’s okay. Confidence can grow little by little through encouragement, practice, responsibility, and being surrounded by people who want to see you succeed.

Rainbow gives girls a place to learn, grow, and discover what they’re capable of. 🌈

🌈 Get to Know Rainbow: What Happens at a Meeting?

If you’ve never been around Rainbow before, you might wonder what actually happens at a meeting.

Rainbow meetings give members a chance to come together, take part in the business of the Assembly, practice leadership and public speaking, plan activities, discuss service projects, and work together as a team.

Meetings also help girls build confidence, learn responsibility, and become more comfortable speaking and participating in a group.

And while meetings are an important part of Rainbow, they are only one piece of the experience. There are also service projects, fun activities, community events, friendships, and plenty of memories made outside the meeting room.

Every meeting is another opportunity to learn, grow, and be part of something meaningful. 🌈

🌈 Get to Know Rainbow: More Than Friendship

One of the best parts of Rainbow is the friendships that can grow along the way.

Rainbow brings girls together from different backgrounds, schools, and communities and gives them a place to connect, support one another, and make memories together.

For some girls, that may mean finding new friends. For others, it may mean discovering a place where they feel comfortable being themselves, trying something new, or stepping outside their comfort zone.

The friendships formed in Rainbow can become part of what makes the experience so special.

🌈 Get to Know Rainbow: Serving Our Community

Service is a big part of Rainbow.

Our members have opportunities to give back, help others, and take part in projects that make a difference in their communities. Along the way, they learn that even small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact.

Service in Rainbow isn’t just about completing a project. It’s about learning compassion, responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of showing up for others.

Those are lessons that can stay with a girl long after the project itself is finished.

Get to Know Rainbow: Learning to Lead

One of the special things about Rainbow is that girls are given real opportunities to grow as leaders.

Leadership in Rainbow isn’t about being the loudest person in the room. It’s about building confidence, learning responsibility, helping others, and discovering what you’re capable of.

Those skills can carry far beyond Rainbow—into school, future careers, community involvement, and everyday life.

When you hear “Rainbow Girls,” you might wonder what our members actually do.

But some of the best parts of Rainbow aren’t things you can put on a list. They’re the laughs, new experiences, friendships, accomplishments, and memories made along the way. 💕

Every girl’s Rainbow experience is a little different, and that’s part of what makes it special.

🌈 Get to Know Rainbow — What is Rainbow?

You may have seen our girls around the community, at parades or events, and wondered… what exactly is Rainbow?

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a youth organization that gives girls opportunities to make new friends, serve their communities, develop leadership skills, and grow in confidence—all while having fun along the way.

But we don’t want you to only hear it from us.

Throughout our Get to Know Rainbow series, we’ll also be asking our members to share what Rainbow means to them—their favorite memories, what they’ve learned, why they joined, and what they would tell another girl who’s thinking about joining. 💬🌈

Welcome to our Get to Know Rainbow series!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing what Rainbow is all about—from our members and community service to leadership opportunities, traditions, and the fun we have together.

Today, we’re excited to share a few photos from the Effingham County Fair Parade. We had a wonderful time representing Compassionate Assembly #121 and being part of such a great community event.

If you’ve ever wondered what Rainbow is or know a young lady between the ages of 10 and 20 who may be interested, we invite you to follow along as we help you get to know Rainbow!
