At KVCAP, our Maine Families Home Visiting Program is growing!

We are hiring a full-time Family Visitor (36-40 hours) in Skowhegan. Family Visitors partner with expectant parents and parents of young children in their home and virtually. Visitors help families understand their child’s development, support the parent-child relationship, share activities, work toward family goals, and connect family with community resources through referrals.

August is HEAP Action Month. The Home Energy Assistance Program, known as HEAP, helps qualified homeowners and renters pay for heating costs.

KVCAP began accepting HEAP applications on August 3, for the 2026/2027 heating season.

Did you know that even if heat is included in your rent, you might be eligible for assistance? Yes, it's true!

The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides assistance to low-income homeowners and renters to help pay heating costs.

KVCAP will begin accepting applications on August 3, 2026, for Kennebec and Somerset county residents.

The new Maine Affordability Payment is a $300 one-time payment that will be mailed to eligible Maine residents beginning in late July 2026.

To be eligible, individuals must meet ALL three criteria below.

1. File a 2025 Maine individual income tax return by October 15, 2026, as a full-year Maine resident.
2. Not be eligible to be claimed as a dependent on another taxpayer’s 2025 individual income tax return.
3. Have federal adjusted gross income of less than:
$100,000 if married filing a joint return or a qualifying surviving spouse;
$75,000 if filing as head of household; or
$50,000 if single or married filing separately.
