‼️Attention State Fair Livestock Exhibitors‼️

South Dakota State Fair: Attention all SD State Fair livestock exhibitors: After careful consideration of the forecasted heat index and to ensure the safety of all livestock species, the SD State Fair Commission has implemented temporary amendments to the 2026 State Fair exhibitor rules.

Livestock release will be permitted starting today (September 3) through Sunday, September 6 from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM ONLY.

All exhibitors must obtain a Livestock Release Form from their barn superintendent. These temporary rules will be in effect today through Sunday. Exhibitors leaving the fairgrounds are to exit Gates 3.5, 4, and 8.

8:30-10:30 am: Rabbit Skill-A-Thon in Rabbit Tent
8:30 am – 4:00 pm: 4-H Special Foods Contest in the Kitchen of Nordby Hall (Option 2 of 3)
8:30 am: 4-H Breeding Sheep Show in 4-H Livestock Complex
9:00-11:30 am: Poultry Skill-A-Thon in Poultry Tent
11:30 am – 4:00 pm: Horticulture Skill-A-Thon in Nordby Hall
1:00 pm: 4-H Poultry Show in Poultry Building
2:00-3:30 pm: STEM Challenge Team Judging in Nordby Hall

Today is the first official day of the South Dakota State Fair! We're kicking things off with a busy day of livestock check-ins. 🐓🐄🐷

8:00 am: 4-H Barns open for stalling
8:00 am-Noon: Check in 4-H Breeding and Market Meat Goats in the 4-H Livestock Complex
Noon-2:00 pm: Check in 4-H Dairy Goats in the 4-H Livestock Complex
1:00-5:00 pm: Check in 4-H Breeding and Market Sheep in 4-H Livestock Complex
3:00-6:00 pm: Check in 4-H Dairy Cattle in the Open Class Dairy Complex
6:00-9:00 pm: 4-H Poultry Entry Card Check in in Poultry Barn (option 1 of 2)
