โจ We serve an average of 2,500 lunches every day โ fueling learning across our community!
๐ In the 2024โ2025 school year, we served 367,863 lunches!
โญ Student favorites? Popcorn chicken, chicken strips, chicken alfredo, and pizza top the list!
๐ A huge THANK YOU to our incredible Nutrition Services team who make it all happen each and every day!
It's A National Celebration:
๐ National School Lunch Week was created in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy to celebrate the importance of healthy school meals for kids everywhere.
๐ฅ The National School Lunch Program began in 1946, thanks to President Harry S. Truman โ ensuring students across the country could enjoy a nutritious meal every day.
๐ง๐ง 30 million kids eat school lunch daily โ thatโs more people than live in the entire state of Texas!
๐ฝ๏ธ Whatโs on the Tray?
Every school lunch includes fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and milk โ adding up to 5+ billion meals served each year across the nation. ๐ฅ
โก Power Up with Nutrition:
School lunch provides about 1/3 of the nutrients kids need daily to learn, play, and grow strong.
๐ Thank Your Lunch Heroes:
It takes hundreds of thousands of cafeteria staff in 95,000 schools to keep students fed nationwide. Be sure to give your lunch ladies & gents a BIG thank-you this week!
