Whether it's a child learning to swim, a family spending an afternoon at the park, neighbors gathering for a community event, or residents staying active at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex, Waterloo Leisure Services helps create the spaces and experiences that make Waterloo a great place to live.
To support this important work, the Waterloo Community Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Waterloo Leisure Services Fund.
The fund was created to strengthen recreational opportunities across the community. Contributions will provide additional resources to sustain and enhance the amenities that make Waterloo a healthy, vibrant, and connected place to call home.
Waterloo Leisure Services oversees a wide range of programs and public spaces that residents enjoy every day.
Signature destinations such as the Cedar Valley SportsPlex, along with the recently updated Gates Park and Byrnes Aquatic Center, serve as gathering places where residents of all ages can come together, stay active, and share everyday experiences that bring people together.
"Leisure Services strives to provide the best possible recreational activities, facilities, and services with the resources allocated," says Todd Derifield, Leisure Services Director. "This fund provides an opportunity for residents to invest in the parks, programs, and facilities that improve the quality of life for all in Waterloo."
Gifts to the Waterloo Leisure Services Fund will help ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy accessible recreational opportunities and well-maintained community spaces.
