A big thank you to one of our volunteer road warriors, Gregg Williams, as we provided another round of cleaning buckets in Gary, Indiana, our 5th in 2 weeks, as the entire state continues their flood recovery.

We are now pivoting to monitoring SE Michigan to provide support to communities after this week’s damaging storms.

Who are the nonprofit organizations who help out at the gates of the Art & Apples Festival®? Meet Disaster Relief at Work, who are returning for another year at the festival.

Disaster Relief at Work, AKA DRAW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing relief services to communities around the US hit by natural disasters.

DRAW was started with the premise that natural disasters are one of the very few times in the human experience where a person or family goes from everyday life to rock bottom.

The Art & Apples Festival® is made possible from the support of local non-profit organizations. These organizations, called Gate Groups, welcome you at the festival gates, provide information about the festival, and encourage your donations upon entry.

Your donation doesn't just support Paint Creek Center for the Arts. A portion of all gate proceeds are given to each of the 5 non-profit organization partners to help support their mission and outreach, including DRAW.

We are in high gear at DRAW now that the calendar has hit September. We currently have two needs for volunteers in the next ten days:

1. This Saturday morning, 9/5, we have two big projects to finish up in our warehouse, and can use extra hands.

2. We still have a couple volunteer shifts to fill out at next weekend’s Paint Creek Center for the Arts Art & Apples festival.

Distributed our 4th load of supplies in the past 17 days, this one in Gary, Indiana, after their state was wrecked by floods. FEMA has given the state a federal emergency declaration, but in the mean time, our friends at the fire station are getting people what they need to get by.

Not to get lost in the shuffle of our Indiana flood response, we’re grateful for our friends at ShindelRock, who volunteered to get buckets ready last Tuesday, just before we sent buckets to more than a thousand Indiana flood victims.

For those in need in the Muncie area, Glad Tidings has you covered. If you need help in Anderson after the floods, we made a drop with our friends at Park Place Church of God, and they can assist as well.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

Help us spread the word! Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW) is providing fans and flood supply buckets TOMORROW, August 15, at our Glad Tidings Muncie campus (3001 S Burlington Dr). This will be a drive-through distribution next to the Student Ministries Center. Distribution will begin at 9 AM and will continue until supplies run out.

If you or someone you know has been affected by the recent flooding and is in need of supplies, please stop by beginning at 9AM tomorrow.

DRAW responds to floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes around the United States by providing supplies and volunteer services to help disaster victims take their first steps back toward normalcy. You can visit the DRAW website at drawbuckets.org for details.
