Here are this month's meeting minutes and next year's approved budget...
PTO Meeting on 4/09/2026
Meeting called to order 6:05 p.m.
Principal Report
-Sharon Smith, from the Church on the Hill,
passed away recently. She never wanted
recognition but was a big Schoolcraft
supporter and frequently donated to the
school. Her memorial is tomorrow and the kids
made signs to line the church driveway.
-M-Step Testing has started for 5th Graders.
They set a goal of having a 75% pass rate.
-3rd and 4th graders will start testing soon.
-We have Vex Club starting soon for 1st and
2nd graders, Run Club will be starting soon on
Tuesdays, and Dance Team practices will be
starting this month.
-Please save the date for Celebration of
Learning which is May 20th and Field Day May
26th. We will need volunteers.
-Two Schoolcraft teachers have been
nominated for Teacher of the Year, Ms. Jacob
and Ms. Kokoszka. The winner will be
announced next week.
Popcorn Day
-Popcorn Day is 4/10/26
Egg Hunt
-The egg hunt went well and the students had
fun.
-We need to look into a new bunny costume for
next year, the current one was ripped.
Teacher Appreciation
-We have several donations and will be sending
out a Sign-Up Genius for drinks and side
dishes.
-Kaley will donate donuts.
-Coney Island is donating Hot Dogs and Salad. -We will be handing out flowers that Monday if
we can get several volunteers to meet at 8:15
May’s Meeting
-We will be voting for next year’s Board
Members at the May PTO meeting.
-President is responsible for:
•Setting the meeting agendas and running
the meetings.
•Point of Contact between the PTO and Ms.
Velez and Teachers.
•Schedule event dates throughout the year.
•Has purchasing authorization.
•Chair events throughout the year.
-Vice President is responsible for:
•Stepping into the role of President if absent
from meetings or events.
•Stepping into the role of Secretary if absent
from meetings.
•Chair events throughout the year.
-Treasurer is responsible for:
•Creating and maintaining the budget each
year.
•Balancing the account throughout the year.
•Teacher reimbursements.
•Has purchasing authorization.
•Sets up Catalog and Holiday Shop
fundraisers.
•Chair events throughout the year.
-Secretary is responsible for:
•Documenting and memorializing every
meeting.
•Uploading and Providing minutes online and
in person.
•Chair events throughout the year.

Emergency Funds
-We had a request to use our emergency fund
budget for students affected by a house fire.
•Vote passed to spend $500.
Special Project Ideas
-A Vote passed last meeting to spend $1000 to
replace window clings as needed. The
estimate came in and the was $300 over the
limit
•Vote passed to spend an additional $300. -The grill we use for teacher appreciation and
chill and grill has not been working.
•Vote passed to spend $350 on a new one. -Everyday Speech program is up for renewal.
•This is the program the students use during
the morning curriculum to help with social
and emotional learning.
•Vote passed to spend $3500 to renew the
program.
-BMX Assembly on Anti-Bullying.
•The assembly is $3000 which would use the
yearly assembly budget. The assembly
sounds engaging for the students and we
can revisit next year to add additional
assemblies if needed.
PTA Account
-During our switch from a PTA to a PTO, the
PTA bank account was left open in case it was
needed for final bills.
•Vote passed to close the account.
