Welcoming a child into your home comes with so many unknowns—so many what-ifs, and trying to think through what you might need.

And sometimes it’s easy to feel like, “someone else probably needs this more than we do.”

But that’s not the point.

Foster Landing isn’t just for moments of crisis—it’s a support system.
It’s a place where you’re reminded that you’re not doing this alone, and that there’s a community that cares about you and the children in your home.

Summer Stands have officially kicked off! ☀️☀️

Last week, the staff and kids at Rhythm & Rhyme Child Care and Preschool hosted the very first Summer Stand of the season in support of Foster Landing.

The kids served lemonade, worked hard, looked adorable, and our community showed up in a big way.

Together, they raised over $800 to help provide clothing, shoes, hygiene items, care kits, and essentials through our foster care resource closet for local children in foster and kinship care.

We are beyond grateful to Rhythm & Rhyme for helping launch Summer Stands and showing that something as simple as a lemonade stand can make a huge impact.

This is just the beginning. 💛

We are overflowing with gratitude for Trinity Faith Church and everyone who participated in their VBS collection this week.

Just look at this table. ❤️

We are so thankful that they chose to partner with us and come alongside children and families connected to foster and kinship care right here in our community.

Backpacks, diapers, wipes, clothing, blankets, hygiene items, shoes, and so much more were donated—and what makes it even more special is that many of these gifts came from kids who wanted to help other kids.

What a beautiful picture of Jesus.

On top of these items, a generous cash donation was also given to help meet needs as they arise.

Every backpack, every package of wipes, every outfit, and every dollar will make a difference for a child who walks through our doors.

Thank you, Trinity Faith Church, for your generosity, your partnership, and for showing such love and care to local families when they need it most.

We dropped off a Summer Stands kit today for a lemonade stand happening THIS FRIDAY at Rhythm & Rhyme Child Care and Preschool! ☀️

These kits include some signs, flyers, thank you cards, and a few fun extras to help make hosting a little easier.

We know not everyone can foster, but there are so many meaningful ways to support children and families in care right here in our community.

☀️ SUMMER STANDS ARE HERE ☀️

This summer, kids, families, businesses, churches, and friends across our community are hosting lemonade stands, bake sales, drink stands, and other creative fundraisers to support local children in foster and kinship care through Foster Landing.

We’ve created Summer Stands hosting kits filled with signs, flyers, thank you cards, QR codes, and fun extras to help make hosting easy and fun! 💛

One of our now Advocates thought if she wasn't actively fostering that she couldn't actually do much to support the foster care community.

Then she heard about the TFI Advocate role.

"Through finding TFI I have realized there are other people that are part of the foster care community, like agency workers, who need love and support. If I had this misconception, then likely others are out there thinking the same things. The same goes for churches - in many cases it's probably not that churches don't care, they just don't know where to start!"

This is exactly what TFI Advocates help provide - connecting local churches to foster care agencies to support caseworkers and in turn, caring for the most vulnerable children and families in their communities.

Advocate applications open in June.

We’ve seen lots of posts about yard sales in town this weekend, and we know a lot of homes are cleaning out closets, toys, shoes, and baby items. 🧺☀️

As you’re sorting through things this weekend, we would truly appreciate you thinking of Foster Landing for any gently used children’s items you no longer need. Donations of clothing, shoes, toys, baby gear, backpacks, and other essentials help us continue supporting children in foster and kinship care right here in our community. ❤️

Every donation helps us keep the closet stocked and ready for the children and families we serve.

Our donation bin is available 24/7 and is located on the south side of Westminster Presbyterian Church at 110 NE 2nd Street in Washington.
