We’ve seen lots of posts about yard sales in town this weekend, and we know a lot of homes are cleaning out closets, toys, shoes, and baby items. 🧺☀️

As you’re sorting through things this weekend, we would truly appreciate you thinking of Foster Landing for any gently used children’s items you no longer need. Donations of clothing, shoes, toys, baby gear, backpacks, and other essentials help us continue supporting children in foster and kinship care right here in our community. ❤️

Every donation helps us keep the closet stocked and ready for the children and families we serve.

Our donation bin is available 24/7 and is located on the south side of Westminster Presbyterian Church at 110 NE 2nd Street in Washington.

If you have any questions, have larger items to donate, or would like help unloading, please feel free to message our page. Thank you for continuing to come alongside local children in care and the families caring for them

You never know who might be a foster, kinship, or guardianship family—or who might become one. It’s amazing how many families don’t even know resources like ours exist. We want to change that.

Our goal is to make sure every family raising kiddos from hard places is supported, seen, and resourced well. 𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞.

Bonus way to help: Leave us a review! It helps others trust what we do and reach out when they need it most.

Thank you for being part of the village! 💞

One thing we could really use right now is a couple people who enjoy organizing and have an eye for the little details. 👀❤️

We’ve already served almost 100 children so far this year, which means approximately 1,000 outfits have already left the closet.

We try really hard to keep Foster Landing feeling calm, welcoming, and easy for kids and families to shop. That means keeping racks organized by clothing type, making sure there are plenty of options to choose from, and honestly just keeping things looking neat and cared for instead of picked over and chaotic.

This could look like organizing racks, pulling and hanging more clothing from the bins to keep the racks full, straightening shoes, rearranging the stuffed animal bin, sorting clothing, or even making sure hangers are all facing the same direction.

We would really love someone who may be interested in coming in on a bi-weekly or monthly basis for a couple hours to help us keep the space ready for families.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, comment below or send us a message.❤️

☀️ HOST A STAND. HELP A CHILD. ☀️

This summer, we’re inviting our community to host lemonade stands, popsicle stands, bake sales, drink stands, and other small summer fundraisers to help support children in foster care through Foster Landing.

Children enter foster care every day, often with very little to call their own. Foster Landing exists to help meet practical needs, ease transitions, and provide thoughtful, personalized support for children and caregivers navigating foster care.

Summer Stands are a fun and easy way for kids, families, churches, businesses, and neighbors to come alongside that work.

And honestly, it doesn’t have to be anything elaborate!

A card table in the driveway. A cooler of popsicles. A handwritten sign. One afternoon.

That’s enough.

Every stand helps us continue providing clothing, shoes, hygiene items, diapers, duffel bags, suitcases, backpacks, bedding, stuffed animals, and other everyday essentials for children in care right here in our community.

We’re also genuinely excited to work alongside our community this summer. One of the best parts of Foster Landing has been meeting people who have a heart for children in care and want to support foster and kinship families in tangible ways, and we’re excited to continue building those relationships this summer.

If you’ve been looking for a simple way to give back this summer, we’d love for you to join us.

We’ve also put together a page with all the details, ideas, and information about hosting a stand.

💛 Meeting needs. Sharing love.

Our director recently had the opportunity through her church community to share a video highlighting their family’s journey in foster care and supporting foster families, along with information about the Foster Front Porch support group and an upcoming Foster Care 101 event.

We’re grateful for every person, church, organization, and community member helping come alongside children and families impacted by foster care in so many ways. 🤍

If you have questions about foster care or are interested in getting involved in any way, this is a great place to start.

A care kit packed for a toddler in care. 🤍

Clothes for the warmer days ahead, diapers and wipes… and a stuffed animal to hold onto, along with a Hearts of Hope card written just for them by someone in the community. (And a few extra items tucked in that aren’t shown here.)

This little one has been in care for about a year—but kids keep growing, and needs don’t stop.

Foster Landing is used for so many different moments like this. Not just the first night, but the months that follow—when families are still showing up every day, and kids still need what they need.

We want foster and kinship families to know they don’t have to figure it all out on their own.

Foster Landing exists to be a steady, consistent place of support—
a space where families can come back to again and again.

This is your community showing up—quietly, practically, and with a lot of care.

That’s why we’re here. 🤍

Understanding the words "foster care crisis" does not make a difference. What makes a difference is when Foster Friendly Communities step up and take ownership of caring for kids and families who need help. We know communities who have:

-provided safe, clean and fun space for family visits
-brought meals, done laundry and given encouragement to foster families
-given love and time to kids who need extra support because of the trauma they've experienced
-businesses who remind foster families - we are with you!
-churches who welcome foster families with open arms, supporting them and understanding the specific needs that come with kids from hard places
