Thank you to The Villages at Oak Ridge for inviting me to your beautiful campus today to speak to the Senior Executive Club!

I was honored to introduce myself and Discover Downtown Washington, share what it means to be an Indiana Accredited Main Street organization, and talk about the work happening through our four pillars: Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality.

It was a wonderful opportunity to share the progress being made in downtown Washington, and the people, partnerships, and possibilities helping us build its future. Thank you for the warm welcome and for allowing me to share why this work means so much to me 💙

The banner program is a fundraiser for Discover Downtown Washington and every dollar goes right back into beautification projects in historic downtown Washington.

It’s your senior’s year, let’s put them front and center in historic downtown Washington!
Our Senior Banner Program is open to all local high school seniors...Hatchets, Cardinals… we don’t pick sides! 🖤💛❤️🤍

Seniors simply need to be involved in an activity outside the classroom. And that means so much more than sports! Past banners have celebrated students involved in FFA, Beta, Student Council, cross country, football, band, choir, clubs, and more.

Banners will be displayed on downtown lampposts during the fall season, giving families a special way to celebrate their senior while adding some hometown pride to our streets.

Even better, proceeds from the banner program go directly back into Discover Downtown Washington’s Design Committee to support downtown beautification projects.

There's a new energy in downtown Washington, and it's been pretty incredible to watch, and an honor to be a small part of.

The Chandelier Barn Market coming to Washington, along with their two storefront locations on Main Street, has brought new faces and excitement to our downtown.

This weekend, we watched group after group of shoppers making their way up and down both sides of Main Street. They were laughing, shopping, snapping pictures in front of our murals and historic buildings, stopping to listen to live music, and taking the time to explore our downtown.

And again and again, we heard compliments...

About our downtown
About our businesses
About our beautiful historic buildings
About the people they met along the way

Sometimes when you see the same streets everyday, its easy to forget just how special they can look through someone else's eyes.

This weekend was a pretty good reminder.

We've got something special here in downtown Washington...the places, the people, the experiences.

We think we're pretty lucky to call it ours 💙

To everyone who came out in the heat this past weekend to support Chandelier Barn Market and our incredible makers, we are truly grateful. You shopped, encouraged, and showed up for these small businesses, and that meant more than you know.

A heartfelt shout-out to my amazing team, who kept our shops on Main Street running smoothly throughout the show, and to Discover Downtown Washington for providing shuttle service between downtown and the market! Thanks to all who helped out in anyway.

And a very special thank-you to Mr. Chandelier for handling so much of the hard work behind the scenes. You are truly the best, and I couldn’t do any of this without you! ❤️

It was hot, and we were tired and sweaty by the end, but our hearts were full because of YOU. Thank you for continuing to support Chandelier Barn Market, our makers, and small businesses throughout our community. We are so blessed!

🎂 Happy Big 5-0 to Russ Jordan 🎂

Russ is the owner, or as he more affectionately refers to himself, the caretaker of our beloved Indiana Theater - Washington, Indiana ♥️

We appreciate Russ and everything he does to keep this historic downtown treasure going, but even more than that, we appreciate the way he continues to give back to our community. His dedication to preserving a peice of Washington’s history while making sure it remains a place for people to gather, make memories, and enjoy for generations to come does not go unnoticed.

Happy 50th Birthday Russ! Thank you for being such an important part of downtown Washington.

🇺🇲 Happy Labor Day from Discover Downtown Washington

Today we are taking a little break, and looking back! We are sharing a few Daviess County Historical Society Museum photos from Labor Days past in Washington, when our community gathered to celebrate the people whose hard work helped build the places we call home.

Discover Downtown Washington will be closed today for Labor Day, but we'll be back at it tomorrow with the REVEAL of our Discover Fall Downtown decoder card winners!!

If you turned in your card Saturday, be sure to check back tomorrow to see if you're one of the lucky winners!

Until then, enjoy the day, enjoy these glimpses into our communities past, and get some well earned rest.
