Welcome to the first of many posts where we break down the impacts of data centers to our Rivers and communities. Number 1– they use a LOT of water!!
An upcoming opportunity to get involved is to come and speak at Rocky Mount’s next City Council meeting where they’ll be voting to rezone 170+ acres of City-owned land to Heavy Industrial so a data center can be developed. Go to soundrivers.org for more information!

TONIGHT! Drop in whenever you like, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.!
We're restoring water quality to Runyon Creek, and we need YOU to weigh in on how to do it! Sound Rivers and the Mid-East Commission have partnered on the Runyon Creek 9-Element Watershed Restoration Plan and now have a host of stormwater projects to share with you. Come on out, see what we've got in the works, and let us know what you think! This is a drop-in event on Thursday, May 21, 4 - 7 p.m., at the Washington Civic Center, so come by any time!
City of Washington, NC
And if you've never heard of Runyon Creek, it's a tributary of the Pamlico River that's just east of Washington, and its watershed drains about 13 square miles of land in and around Washington!
