📜 Did you know Herman Melville’s final story remained unpublished until after his death?

There’s much more to Melville than Moby-Dick—and you don’t have to tackle a 600-page novel to discover it.

Join us for the next Arts of the Pamlico Learning Collective Series:

Herman Melville’s Lost Manuscript: “Daniel Orme”
with Dr. Francis Pisano

Explore this fascinating short work and discover a different side of one of America’s literary giants, including the seaside influences that helped shape his imagination. Whether you’re a lifelong literature lover, a history buff, or simply curious about a nearly forgotten story, this afternoon promises an engaging conversation and a few literary discoveries along the way.

🗓️ Wednesday, September 2 | 1:30–3:00 PM
📍 Turnage Theatre Gallery
🎟️ $5 AOP Members | $10 Non-Members

Come curious. No Moby-Dick homework required. 🐋

Dr. Pisano will present this very short story by Herman Melville, discovered as a manuscript after the author’s death. It was the last thing Melville ever wrote and holds fascinating clues to his life and the seaside places he held dear.

🎶 Calling Beaufort County students in grades 8–12 who love to sing—or would simply like to learn!

Arts of the Pamlico is proud to offer the Beaufort County Youth Community Chorus, directed by music educator Rachel Campbell.

This welcoming community chorus is a place for young people to build confidence, strengthen their musical skills, make new friends, and experience the joy of creating music together.

💚 No auditions required. All voice levels are welcome!

During rehearsals, students will explore the basics of singing, learn how to read music, grow as musicians, and prepare to share what they’ve learned in a community concert.

🎵 Rehearsals: Primarily Thursdays, 4:00–5:30 PM, October–December
📍 Location: Arts of the Pamlico Historic Turnage Theatre
🎤 Concert: Sunday, December 13 at 3:00 PM, in collaboration with the Beaufort County Choral Society
