The MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) program charge is to maintain and benefit the water quality in creeks, streams and waterways by reducing pollutants in stormwater runoff.

Our native mussels play a vital role in our waterways, filtering out pollutants as well as serving as a food source for wildlife. Now they are getting some help from the US FWS.

Freshwater mussels are returning to Pennsylvania after centuries of decline. Pennsylvania is included in a new federal critical habitat for four endangered species.
