Our Vice President, Laurie Popeck, attended the Washington County Chamber of Commerce event this morning at North Franklin Township to learn more about the Franklin Crossroads Park project, formerly known as the Washington Crown Center, in North Franklin Township. Great presentations by Jeff Kotula, Chris Salata, Keith Brandt, and Rich Gasperini. So glad this project is underway as the old Crown Center Mall definitely needed some TLC!

The Trevor Popeck Foundation had the honor of presenting one second scholarship to, Billy Guevara, who recently graduated from Fort Cherry High School.
Billy’s story is one of resilience, responsibility, and deep empathy. In his essay, he shared how vision challenges have impacted his entire family — from his parents and grandparents to his siblings — and how those experiences shaped his understanding that clear vision is never something to take for granted.
Billy also faced his own unexpected eye injury, which led to blurry vision, light sensitivity, headaches, and ultimately a diagnosis of astigmatism. What could have been a setback instead became a turning point. He learned to advocate for his own health, stay disciplined, and adapt with maturity far beyond his years.
But what stood out most was the way he stepped up for his mother as she navigated vision loss caused by diabetes. Billy became her support system — helping her read important documents, guiding her through daily tasks, and learning firsthand how deeply vision affects confidence and independence.
Through these experiences, Billy developed patience, compassion, and a desire to serve others. He hopes to use what he’s learned to support his family and uplift those facing similar challenges.
This is exactly the kind of heart and leadership our foundation was created to recognize.
Billy, we are incredibly proud of you. As you begin your next chapter at Robert Morris University, we know you will continue to make a meaningful impact on everyone around you.
On behalf of The Trevor Popeck Foundation, congratulations! We wish you the best in the future!

Celebrating a Milestone for The Trevor Popeck Foundation

Monday, June 1, 2026

The Trevor Popeck Foundation is proud to recognize Paige Oliver as one of our two recipients of the first‑ever Trevor Popeck Foundation Scholarship, awarded annually to graduating seniors who demonstrate exceptional compassion, resilience, and service to others — particularly in areas related to medical or vision‑related challenges.

Paige distinguished herself through her thoughtful advocacy for a young girl in her after‑school program who faced barriers due to limited access to vision care. Her willingness to step forward, offer support, and stand beside this student during moments of vulnerability reflects the core values upon which this foundation was built.

Her statement — “Support goes beyond meeting physical needs. Sometimes it is choosing to stand beside someone when they are being overlooked or judged.” — embodies the spirit of this scholarship.

Our Vice President, Laurie Popeck, presented Paige with her certificate and a $500 scholarship check to support her future college endeavors. Paige’s parents were also in attendance, proudly supporting her as she accepted this award and celebrated this important milestone. Paige will be attending Howard University, and we are confident she will continue to uplift others through her leadership and compassion.
