WWAS Pets This is an independent community page that aids WWAS residents to find adopters through social media. These funds provide for the operation of the shelter only.

WWAS is a rural shelter located about 40 miles east of Athens. We specialize in both cat and dog adoptions and occasionally small animal adoptions. We only accept owner surrenders and/or strays from Wilkes County residents. The shelter is funded by the City of Washington and Wilkes County. The Washington Wilkes Humane Association (WWHSA) was created to help with expenses ( medical surgeries, spay, neuter, vaccinations, etc.) not covered by the City/County funding. The WWHSA is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deducible.

FIND A HOME FRIDAY!!!
October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and we have lots of dogs, puppies and adults, who are available for adoption. We are currently at capacity and need for some of our dogs to find their forever homes. We have reduced adoption fees for this month and the fees include all vetting--vaccinations, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay/neuter and microchip. If you are thinking of adopting, please visit a shelter and give a shelter dog a chance. There are many good, loving dogs at shelter who just need a chance. If you can't adopt, consider fostering or donating. Please SHARE,SHARE,SHARE and let's help these dogs find a home .
