Springfield Baptist Church On July 17, 1868, Springfield was organized as the first African-American baptist church in Washington, GA.

The purpose of Springfield Baptist Church is to worship God, by fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ as set forth in Mathew 28:19-20. When possible, Springfield makes every effort to minister to the needs of its members and others as the church is able to do so. Springfield does any and all things related to and in connection with the carrying out of the purposes of a New Testament Church.
