This month, we are spotlighting Martin Carroll, M.D.🧡

Martin Carroll, M.D., of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine is leading a collaborative research program supported by a $5 million grant from Blood Cancer United. Dr. Carroll and his co-investigators from across the country are studying how specific genetic mutations affect acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and they are sharing their expertise with one another to help more patients.

This is what sustained investment in scientific discovery looks like when brilliant minds work together to move us closer to a world without blood cancer. Learn more about the work ⬇️

Alyssa had been chipping away at $8,000 in medical debt for years after her lymphoma treatment. Every extra dollar she had went toward the balance.

When she connected with our Medical Debt Case Management Program, her case manager discovered a $4,300 credit from her treatment's manufacturer sitting on her account. Nobody had ever applied it or even told her it was there. She was chipping away at a debt she didn’t even owe.

Once it was applied, her balance was wiped out completely. She even received a check back from her hospital.

"If I hadn't connected with the case manager, I would have still been paying this bill," Alyssa said.

đź’™ If you are navigating medical debt after a blood cancer diagnosis, we can help.

If you are navigating medical debt after a blood cancer diagnosis, you do not have to figure it out alone. Our Medical Debt Case Management Program is completely free and our case managers work directly with you to help reduce your debt, identify billing errors, and connect you to financial assistance.

Who made a difference in your blood cancer experience? A patient whose strength inspired you, a caregiver who never gave up, an oncologist or healthcare professional who showed up when it mattered, a friend, or a survivor whose story kept you going?

The Blood Cancer Heroes event is returning this December, and we want to help you honor the people who lifted you up.

Take a moment to nominate your hero and share why they mean so much to you. Submit your story through CURE and help us celebrate the people who make this community stronger. ⤵️

Safer treatments for kids with blood cancer should not be a dream.

Through the Dare to Dream Project, we are working to transform treatment and care for kids. Children deserve safer, less toxic, and more effective options made specifically for them.

Too often, kids are treated with therapies designed for adults. That is not good enough. Kids deserve better.

When mantle cell lymphoma comes back, treatment choices have been limited.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a new treatment for adults with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) whose disease has come back after two prior treatments.

In the clinical trial supporting this approval, more than half of patients responded to treatment, and many continued responding for more than a year.

Moments like this remind us why research matters. Every new approval means more options, more time, and more hope.
