Sexual violence doesn’t end when the moment does. For many survivors, the impact can show up later as post-traumatic stress.

PTSD isn’t just something that happens after combat. It can affect anyone who experiences trauma, including sexual violence. It may look like flashbacks, trouble sleeping, feeling on edge, or avoiding reminders of what happened.

These responses are not a sign of weakness—they’re how the brain tries to cope with something overwhelming.

Learning this helps us show up with more understanding, less judgment, and real support.

It’s and we want to take a moment to dive into what PTSD is and how it can apply to survivors of sexual assault.

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can result from any traumatic event, including sexual violence.

With PTSD, feelings of stress, fear, anxiety, and nervousness can cause you to feel constantly in danger and make it difficult to function in everyday life.

If you, or someone you know, needs support RAINN is here for you 24/7. You are not alone.

Some forms of sexual violence happen online—but the harm happens in the real world, to real people.

When intimate images or videos get created, shared, or threatened to be shared without the depicted person's consent, the impact can be overwhelming.

At RAINN, we call these images NCII: non-consensual intimate images.

NCII includes (1) real and AI-generated images and videos (2) that are intimate or sexual in nature (3) and have been created, shared, and/or posted online without consent.

This kind of harm is known as TESA: tech-enabled sexual abuse.

Examples include:

• Deepfakes: AI-generated/manipulated images or videos

• Sextortion: Coercing or ""blackmailing"" someone with threats to create or share NCII

• Revenge p**n: Sharing or posting NCII to take revenge on someone

• Tech-enabled sexual harassment, cyberstalking, hacking, and more

These abuses are forms of sexual violence, and they can affect a person's sense of safety, relationships, and mental health. TESA can even lead to in-person sexual violence.

Knowing the signs helps you stay safer and show up with care.

Our favorite show is on! 📺

We’re proud to serve as a resource partner for new 14-part investigative series, Searching for Mr. Deepfakes — exposing the devastating impact of nonconsensual intimate imagery (NCII) and the fight for accountability.

Watch the series now on Paris Hilton’s TikTok. If you or someone you love has experienced image-based sexual abuse or exploitation, support is available at RAINN.org.

Healing doesn’t happen all at once.

Some days, growth looks like resting. Other days, it looks like setting a boundary, asking for support, or simply making it through the day.

No step forward is too small. 💚

It’s National Nurse Appreciation Week! 💙🌟

This week, we’re recognizing the nurses who provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors every day, including Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs).

In collaboration with Off The Clock Nurse Travels, we’re breaking down what a SANE is, the critical role they play after sexual violence, and why survivor-centered medical care matters.

SANEs are specially trained nurses who help survivors receive medical attention, emotional support, and forensic care in a safe and empowering environment. Their work can make a meaningful difference during one of the most difficult moments in a survivor’s life.

To all the nurses supporting survivors with empathy, expertise, and care, thank you. 💙

SAAPM may be coming to a close, but the care we show each other continues every day. 💙

Small acts of care can go a long way—checking in on a friend, listening without judgment, sharing resources, or speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.

Together, those everyday actions help build a safer, more supportive world for everyone. Keep showing up.

👖It's , and we're spreading awareness around sexual violence, supporting survivors, and educating ourselves and others.

The day was created by in response to the overturning of a 1998 r**e conviction by the Italian Supreme Court. The court said that the jeans were so tight that the victim must have aided the perpetrator to remove them, and therefore the act was "consensual." Today we wear denim to take a stand against victim blaming.

📸 Take a photo wearing denim and tag us to join our community this .
