Interesting discussion in Devex: "Disturbing the peace: US aid cuts endanger conflict prevention efforts." https://www.devex.com/news/disturbing-the-peace-us-aid-cuts-endanger-conflict-prevention-efforts-112459

Including comments from the Alliance for Peacebuilding's Executive Director Liz Hume: “The U.S. has, at a time of record-breaking, increasing global violent conflict … dismantled its capacities, its expertise in peacebuilding and conflict prevention at a time when it’s needed the most....How do we reorganize and transform so that we take conflict prevention and peacebuilding … and center it and prioritize it in our strategies?”

Executive Director Hume will be speaking more about at our annual conference in July. Peacebuilding on the global scale and in the U.S. face a number of challenges - challenges important to face head-on.

At an Aid Report briefing, experts discussed program terminations, the unexpected ways some organizations are adapting, and what it would take to restore peacebuilding as a central pillar of U.S. foreign policy.

📕 3,599 books. 62 years. One extraordinary life shaped by curiosity.

➡️ While serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal in 1962, Dan Pelzer began documenting every book he read. Decades later, that handwritten list became a remarkable archive of lifelong learning, reflection, and exploration. Today, his story continues to inspire readers around the world, reminding us of the power of curiosity, consistency, and a life well-read.

✈️ This year, the Peace Corps celebrates 65 years since the first Volunteers boarded their flight to Ghana. As we honor this milestone, we’re also recognizing the retirement of our longtime Director of Advocacy, Jonathan Pearson, whose 22 years of service to the Peace Corps and the RPCV community have left a lasting impact.

🕊️ To honor Jonathan’s legacy, a generous donation has been made to inspire continued support for the Peace Corps community. Join us by contributing $65 for 65 years of Peace Corps history, with the goal of raising one dollar for every Volunteer who has ever served.

❤️ Your support will help protect Peace Corps funding, strengthen programs for RPCVs, and ensure the RPCV community continues to have a strong voice at the table. Join us. Unite in Service: peacecorpsconnect.org/unite-in-service

Appreciate these comments from former congresswoman Hon. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) about the importance of service in her community. She’s so right! Any one person can make a difference.
