International Women’s Day is not just about one day.

Across science, academia, arts and many other fields, women continue to shape knowledge, mentor future generations, and drive innovation forward every day. Yet too often this happens without equal recognition, opportunities, or visibility.

Today is the moment to acknowledge this reality, but also to highlight the women whose work, leadership, and ideas make a difference in our fields and communities.

Let’s build a thread in the comments to celebrate the women we admire!

🎤🪩 It’s Sanremo week, and we are delighted to feature Francesco Ciabattoni, Term Professor of Italian Literature at Georgetown University, Secretary of the American Boccaccio Association, and Councilor of the Dante Society of America, in our latest spotlight.

🎶He is also the founder of The Italian Song, a unique digital archive that brings Italian singer-songwriters to the English-speaking world through translations and critical commentary.

🌍✨Through his work, he exemplifies the cultural bridge-building and global perspective that define our ISSNAF community.

🌍🇮🇹 Faces of ISSNAF is a space to go beyond titles and CVs, to share the human journeys and lived experiences of our ambassadors and members. It’s about the path, the challenges, the sense of identity, and what it truly means to be an Italian professional abroad. This series is about community, and it’s our way to celebrate the people who shape ISSNAF.

🔬⚛️ We begin with Dr. Valentina Angelici Avincola, Lead Engineer at MPR Associates with over fifteen years of experience in the nuclear industry. Through her work, she represents excellence in science, but beyond that, she reflects curiosity, purpose, and the determination to build a career across borders.

💬✍️ If you are an ISSNAF member and would like to be featured in the spotlight series , we would love to hear from you! Reach out via DM or email for details.
