This past Saturday, we brought Shower to Empower to the East Providence Elks Lodge to support the organization, Riding 22 in 22 VSA.

The group stopped in Rhode Island as part of their "22 States In 22 Days" ride to raise awareness for veterans with PTSD and those lost to su***de.

It was a joy getting to know this group and a privilege to be able to support their mission by offering showers before the next leg of their journey.

A safe home can change everything.

LGBTQ+ youth experience homelessness at significantly higher rates than their peers. Access to supportive housing and affirming services is more important than ever.

šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ This Pride Month, we celebrate resilience while advocating for a future where every young person has a safe place to call home.

Thank you to the students of Joseph L. McCourt and Cumberland Middle Schools for supporting House of Hope through their National Junior Honor Society service project.

In addition to a collection drive, the students held car washes and raised an incredible $2,000 to support House of Hope's programs and services.

We applaud their commitment to service and compassion for their community, and congratulate them on this academic achievement.

Earlier this week, 8th grade students from completed the installation of a vinyl mural on the community room building at ECHO Village.

The project began at the end of 2025, and after months of thoughtful planning and collaboration, it’s finally ready for our residents to enjoy.

In their artist statement, the students shared, ā€œOur goal with this artwork was to spread some joy and add color into the lives of people who are less fortunate.ā€

ā€œIn hopes of getting residents’ opinions on our art project, because it will be reflected in their community, we sent out a survey to the people living in ECHO Village asking for their favorite colors, animals, and quotes. Another important aspect we wanted to include in our mural were the beloved dogs of former resident Ralph, one of ECHO Village’s first residents. The dogs were named Smokey and Willow.ā€

Thank you to the students for choosing House of Hope CDC for this project. Your hard work, thoughtfulness, and beautiful artwork will bring joy to this community every day.

The return of nice weather had us eager to get outside and tackle the garden beds at Fair House.

Case Manager Jacqueline Mercado, who completed the URI Master Gardener Program in 2016, leads the team preparing the garden for planting each year. She also teaches research-based gardening practices to our clients.

Residents at Fair House help water, w**d, and harvest the garden throughout the season, promoting healthy eating habits while allowing them to enjoy the fruits of their labor all summer long. šŸ“šŸ„•šŸ…

ā˜€ļø We couldn't have asked for a better day to host our first ever May breakfast at ECHO Village.

From bacon and waffles to Bill's famous shrimp and grits , the food was plentiful and our clients were happy. šŸ„“šŸ«“šŸ¤

"We have community. They care about us. We care about each other," says Junior.

A huge thank you to team members Sam and Tammara for organizing this amazing event. We can't wait to turn it into a yearly tradition.

Meet our Interim Executive Director, Brenna Rafferty šŸ’™

Brenna has been part of the House of Hope team for 1 year and 8 months, bringing dedication, heart, and a deep commitment to our mission. To her, preventing and ending homelessness means ensuring every person has dignity, stability, and the opportunity to build a better future. It’s about removing barriers so people can move from crisis toward possibility.

In her new role, Brenna is focused on building trust with our team, fostering collaboration, and keeping morale strong—because a connected, supported team is what allows us to serve our community with compassion and impact.

A Rhode Island native, Brenna was born and raised in Warwick and is a proud mom of two sons—one a senior in college playing Division II lacrosse, and the other a spirited 5th grader who keeps life exciting! Outside of work, you’ll almost always find her on a field or court cheering them on—she’s a true sports (and boy) mom through and through.

We’re excited for what’s ahead under Brenna’s leadership!
