CARES assists with response to mental health crises and connects individuals to community resources. This page is not always monitored.

City of Warsaw, IN CARES and Warsaw Police Department, in collaboration with VA Northern Indiana Health Care System, now have free gun locks available to the community.

These locks are provided by the VA, Indiana Su***de Prevention Network, and Mental Health America.

Fi****ms continue to be the leading means of su***de in the state of Indiana, and Kosciusko county. We recognize that providing a resource to increase the time and distance between individuals in crisis, and a lethal mean is a crucial intervention.

Introducing Holding Space Support Group, a weekly peer-led group centered around building connection and discussing life challenges without judgment. Based on the Alternatives to Su***de model, it offers a non-clinical space where people can be honest about their mental health experiences without fear of forced treatment. For people 18+ who have lived experience with mental health struggles, suicidal thoughts, and/or attempts. See the Zoom link in the comments.

CIT is built on the idea that better understanding leads to better responses. When law enforcement, fire/EMS, behavioral health, social services, and community partners learn together, we strengthen our entire community's response to crisis.

Congratulations to our most fifth cohort of graduates from Crisis Intervention Team training. We have now trained 119 responders in CIT!

Dan Hampton, Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office, and Ryan Reed, Lutheran EMS, were recognized at graduation for their dedication to the Kosciusko County CIT program.
