From the courtroom to the 911 Dispatch Center, KLA cadets received a behind-the-scenes look at Kosciusko County’s law enforcement and judicial systems during last week’s session. ⚖️🚔

Cadets heard from Kosciusko Superior Court Judge Karin McGrath, Warsaw Police Department Capt. Bradley Kellar, Kosciusko County Sheriff Jim Smith and JCAP Director Casey Trombley. Each speaker shared a unique perspective on administering justice, protecting the community and supporting individuals working toward recovery and successful reentry. 👮‍♂️🤝

Following the presentations, cadets toured the Justice Building, including the 911 Dispatch Center and Jail Intake control room. 📞🏛️

Thank you to our speakers and hosts for giving cadets a firsthand look at the people, programs and operations working together to serve Kosciusko County!

💧 Protecting Our Water Resources

KLA cadets recently spent the morning at the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams learning more about the importance of protecting the lakes and waterways that make Kosciusko County such a special place to live, work and play.

A special thank you to Dr. Nate Bosch of the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams and Heather Harwood of the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation for sharing their knowledge and the important work their organizations are doing to preserve water quality and lake health for generations to come.

A new Kosciusko Leadership Academy journey begins! 🎉

We welcomed the KLA Class of 2027 during Kickoff Day at The Owl's Nest in North Webster. The class connected, learned more about KLA and boarded a bus provided by Grace College to explore northern Kosciusko County.

The day included a ride aboard the Dixie sternwheeler on Webster Lake and a visit to POLYWOOD, where the class learned about entrepreneurship and sustainable manufacturing. Cori Humes with Visit Kosciusko County also shared insights into the county’s communities, attractions and resources.

Thank you to Owl’s Nest, Grace College, POLYWOOD, Cori Humes and everyone who helped make Kickoff Day possible!

WE LEAD Kosciusko is a perfect example of how a KLA White Paper project can grow into something that creates lasting impact for our community. This project began as a Kosciusko Leadership Academy white paper and is now becoming a reality through the dedication of community partners, including Grace College , and leaders who saw what was possible. 🎉
