Thank you to Cary Lewis at Lewis Salvage for taking us on a tour of their Rochester location. It is quite the impressive operation!

For nearly 100 years, the Lewis Family has served Northern Indiana's metal recycling needs. From aluminum can recycling to container transportation and steel processing, Lewis Salvage has been an integral part of servicing Indiana’s communities.

Lewis Salvage specializes in the purchasing and processing metals from the orthopedic device and implant industry. They additionally purchase steel, copper, aluminum, brass, and all other ferrous and non-ferrous scrap. Lewis Salvage will quote any items that contains recoverable metals and pay based on the value metal using a wide range of processing/sorting methods. They offer container drop off service, building demolition, metals removal and mixed metals sorting. They additionally have developed processes to destroy and unpack cobalt, titanium and stainless orthopedic implants.

Earlier this week, we visited The Papers Inc. printing plant in Milford 🗞️

Thank you to Ron Baumgartner, president and publisher, for leading us on a tour of their Main Street and First Street plants. During our visit, we saw their large Cromoman press in operation, as well as the saddle stitcher, sheet-fed and web presses, graphic design and other aspects of the business.

It was a great visit, thanks for having us!
