Have you heard that silly rumor that black cats are bad luck? We are here to set the record straight - black cats bring the best luck!

In Japan, black cats are a sign of wealth and prosperity and are thought to help single women find suitors. In England, black cats are considered a blessing for marriages and are thought to protect sailors in rough seas. In Wales, black cats bring luck to a home and keep disease away (and may also predict the weather!). In Scotland, a black cat appearing at your doorstep is considered lucky and a sign of future prosperity!

And lucky for all of you - we have several black cats available for adoption today! We've got stunning black panthers like Ketchup, Toyo, Diva, Wrangler, and a dilute black kitty (he's grey!) Stanley. If you are looking to get lucky - look no further. These feline friends are ready for their forever homes today.

Coconut and Powder Puff are our KMUN, The Astorian, 949 The Bridge, and Classic Hits 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of October 26, 2026.

These two cuties are looking for a home, but they're not going anywhere without each other! ❤️ Coconut (the Pomeranian) is the more outgoing of the two, while her buddy, Powder Puff, still looks to her for a little extra confidence. They do well walking together on a leash, and both are very sweet.

If you've got room for these two and want to give them a home together, schedule a meet and greet with the Clatsop County Animal Shelter! 🐾

Mustard is our KMUN, The Astorian, 949 The Bridge, and Classic Hits 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of October 19, 2026.

Meet Mustard, a spicy-sweet orange tabby who brings all the flavor without any of the bite. He has the classic bright orange coat, glowing amber-yellow eyes, and peak "ginger energy". Along with charming mix of lazy lap-cat and occasional 2:00 AM racetrack champion, he’s ready to squeeze into your heart. And just like the condiment, he needs to be a staple in your home.

10% discount applied to his adoption fee expires October 31st.

Meet Honey Girl! 🐾
Honey Girl is a beautiful 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix with 53 pounds of sweetness and charm. This affectionate girl is a bundle of joy who wants little more than to be adored, showered with attention, and given plenty of opportunities to play. She especially loves her toys and is always ready for a little fun. Honey Girl is also very smart, eager to learn, and a pleasure to walk on a leash.

Honey Girl loves playing with other dogs in the shelter’s playgroups, though she can sometimes be reactive toward other dogs while on leash when the chemistry isn't quite right. She also has a strong prey drive and gets very excited at the sight of deer or squirrels, so a home without cats or other small animals would likely be best. With her sweet nature, playful personality, and eagerness to please, Honey Girl has so much love to offer. Please consider stopping by the shelter for a visit to get to know this beautiful girl!

Pet Meet-and-Greets are by appointment. To meet Honey Girl or any of our available dogs or cats, please call the shelter at 503-861-7387 or stop by the lobby to schedule a visit.
