Meet Lou Lou! 🐾
This beautiful 11-year-old, 35 lb Border Collie/Lab mix has a uniquely striking black and white coat and so much love to give. Don’t let her age fool you, Lou Lou still loves to run and play, happily fetching every ball thrown and dropping it at your feet for another go-round. She’s also such a pleasure to walk, easy on the leash and quite responsive to corrections. In shelter playgroups, she tends to do her own thing, but seems perfectly comfortable around other respectful dogs.

Lou Lou recently did wonderfully at a shelter event in downtown Astoria, happily soaking up affection from everyone she met, young and old, and even making quick friends with a few dogs who stopped by. Lou Lou simply loves just about everyone and soaks up affection as if it were oxygen. But more than anything, this sweet dog craves human companionship, reassurance, and someone to call her own. If you think you might be that someone, or perhaps know someone who could be, please contact the shelter and stop by to say hi.

🧡 PRIVATE RESIDENCE WANTED: One exceptionally handsome orange gentleman. 🧡

Meet Simba, approximately 2 years old, currently interviewing humans for the very important position of His Person.

Qualifications are fairly straightforward:
A comfortable couch.
A lap available for snuggling.
Hands willing to provide an appropriate amount of affection.
And preferably a home where Simba can settle in and finally say, “Yes. This will do nicely.” 😌

Simba is an affectionate, cuddly guy with a whole lot of love packed into one very handsome orange package. He’s the kind of cat who seems made for home life, curling up beside his person, supervising the household and making himself comfortably, wonderfully part of the family.

And really… look at that face. 🥹

Simba has done his time in stainless-steel accommodations. He’s ready for something softer. Come meet him at Clatsop County Animal Shelter and see whether your home is the one he’s been waiting for.

👉 Can’t adopt? Sharing Simba’s post can genuinely help him reach the person who can.

Roxy is our KMUN, The Astorian, 949 The Bridge, and Classic Hits 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of August 31, 2026.

Roxy is spunky, sweet, and ready for her next chapter! Roxy has been spending some time in a foster home, and she’s been showing off just how much she has to offer.

She’s housebroken, kennel trained, walks nicely with a gentle leader, and loves people. Her foster time has also helped us learn more about what makes Roxy happiest and what kind of home will help her truly shine.

Roxy has lived with other dogs, but she can resource guard, so finding the right canine match is important. She’s looking for a cat-free, small-dog-free home where she can be her fabulous self.

If you’re looking for a sweet girl with some personality and a whole lot of love to give, Roxy might just be your girl. ❤️

A huge thank you to Fort George Brewery for hosting Clatsop Animal Assistance for their August Benefit Night!

Between Fort George’s generous donation of 10% of dine-in and to-go sales and the supporters who stopped by our table to purchase merchandise and make individual donations, the evening raised approximately $3,500 for CAA!

Fort George has supported CAA and our work in so many ways over the years, and we’re incredibly grateful to have been selected as a Benefit Night recipient.

And, of course, thank you to everyone who came out, said hello, grabbed a bite or a beer, bought some CAA gear, or made a donation. Your support helps us continue to care for shelter animals and animals in need throughout our community.

From all of our animals, staff, and volunteers, thank you, Fort George, for being such a wonderful community partner!

Many know Liz through her music as Grouper, with work that has reached audiences around the world. We’re also lucky to know her as a CAA supporter, volunteer, and friend to Clatsop County’s shelter animals.

Several years ago, Liz created Let It Come to You, a compilation featuring music from a number of artists, with proceeds benefiting Clatsop Animal Assistance. She still has a limited number of CDs from the project and, at tonight’s sold-out Liberty Theatre performance, she’ll once again be donating the proceeds from their sales to CAA.

We’re incredibly grateful to Liz for continuing to support our work. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket tonight, keep an eye out for the CDs, and enjoy an incredible show!

Thank you, Liz!

Tickets are now on sale!

Liz Harris has spent over twenty years creating deeply atmospheric music as Grouper, earning widespread acclaim for albums including Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill, Ruins, and Shade. Her work has quietly influenced countless artists while remaining entirely her own.

Opening the evening is Marisa Anderson, described by The New Yorker as "one of the most distinctive guitar players of her generation." Her beautifully expressive guitar compositions blend blues, gospel, jazz, country, and modern classical influences into something completely unique.

Don't miss this extraordinary evening of immersive music.
