Vitani is our KMUN, The Astorian, 949 The Bridge, and Classic Hits 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of June 15, 2026.

✨ Meet Vitani (“Tani”) ✨
Those lovely eyes. That adorable orange-and-black little face. Those tiny white socks. 🖤🧡🤍Tani is a beautiful young tortie girl with the perfect mix of cuddly companion and curious explorer. She’s incredibly kind, enjoys affection, and has the sweetest gentle personality. Despite everything changing in her life recently, she’s remained loving, curious, and ready to connect with people. She’s the kind of cat who will happily soak up attention, then wander off to investigate the world around her before coming right back for more love. Petite, playful, and absolutely unforgettable. Tani still has so many happy years ahead of her, and we would truly love to see her spend them in a safe, loving home where she can blossom into someone’s best friend.

Success Story Sunday 🎉🎉

From shelter pet to beloved family members, we love celebrating the incredible bonds formed at the Clatsop County Animal Shelter.

🏡 The Adoption Moment🏡
After the passing of one of our older dogs, we went to the shelter and met Frankie. We adopted her first, and when our other older dog passed away shortly afterward, we returned to the shelter. The staff told us that Frankie had a sibling still there, so we went to meet Howard and knew we had to bring him home too.

🧡 Life at Home Today🧡
Personality: Goofy, talkative, and affectionate
Favorite Things: Being spoiled rotten and snuggling

💌 A Message from the Adopter💌
Please adopt there are so many good dogs.

Thank you to Frankie & Howard's family for giving them the loving forever home they truly deserve! ❤️

Meet Howie! 🐾
Howie is a handsome 1-year-old black brindle pit bull/shepherd mix with a big heart and tons of love to give. At 77 pounds, he’s a strong boy, but beneath that tough look is an incredibly sweet dog who just needs a little time and patience to trust new people and situations. Unfortunately, Howie hasn’t had the easiest start in life, and new environments and situations can make him quite nervous. He can also be a bit reactive on leash, so he’ll need a strong, patient adopter willing to help build his confidence and continue his socialization and training.

The good news? Once Howie feels safe, his playful, loving personality starts to shine, especially with other dogs in our shelter play groups, where he truly enjoys making canine friends. This sweet, under-socialized boy is looking for someone willing to take him under their wing and show him the love, stability, and guidance he’s been missing. With the right person, Howie has all the potential to blossom into the amazing lifelong companion he was meant to be.

Pet Meet-and-Greets are by appointment. To meet Howie or any of our available dogs or cats, please call the shelter at 503-861-7387 or stop by the lobby to schedule a visit.

Meet DeeDee 🐾
DeeDee is a friendly, playful, lovely cat. In a new environment, however, it may take a while for these sweet traits to be revealed. Her foster mom describes it this way: `When DeeDee first came to me she definitely let me know she needed time to adjust to a new home. So I simply spent time in her room, reading or watching tv and speaking gently to her. Within a week she no longer hissed and would approach me for short periods of petting and attention. Now, after several weeks, she calls to me when she`s lonely, sleeps on my lap or nearby, purrs a lot, greets strangers comfortably and plays like a kitten. She doesn't like other cats so she isn't able to integrate with my cats. And she can still get startled by unexpected movement or noise so a calm home is probably best for her. She likes human company and will be the perfect, loving, entertaining companion for some lucky adopter.` Since she isn't a big fan of visiting new places, we`re asking potential adopters to meet her in her foster home. If you think you might have the right forever home for her, please fill out an application and then call the shelter to make an appointment to meet her.

Leopold is our KMUN, The Astorian, 949 The Bridge, and Classic Hits 94.3 KRKZ Pet of the Week for the week of June 8, 2026.

Meet Leopold! This handsome 6-year-old bully mix is a sweet boy looking for a home of his own. Leopold is learning loose-leash walking and will do best with someone who can confidently manage his strength and stay consistent with his training.

Leopold has been in playgroups with other dogs and has done well with the right dog friends. He’s a big personality with a lot of enthusiasm and can be a bit much for some dogs, so any potential canine companions should be a good match for his play style. He’s still polishing up his manners, but he’s got plenty of potential with the right guidance.

If you're looking for a loyal companion and are ready to help him continue building his skills, Leopold would love to meet you!

🎓 Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓

To all the graduates in our community, congratulations on this incredible accomplishment. Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication have brought you to this milestone, and we wish you all the best as you begin your next chapter.

At the Clatsop County Animal Shelter, our own "Class of 2026" is celebrating with a few special yearbook superlatives. From Sarge the Husky, voted "Biggest Gossip," to DeeDee the cat, who is "Most Likely to Brighten Your Day," this graduating class is full of personality.

While our shelter graduates may not be collecting diplomas, they're all hoping for the same thing after graduation: a loving forever home.

A special thank you to The UPS Store at Warrenton, OR for their continued generosity and dedication to printing our monthly adoption posters.
