Today marks a historic moment for public health in RI. In 2025, the State recorded its lowest number of overdose deaths since 2012. We’ve seen a 50% decline in overdose deaths since 2022 – surpassing our Overdose Task Force 2030 goal to reduce overdose deaths by 30%. We’re deeply grateful to all of our community partners, outreach workers, harm reduction teams, recovery advocates, treatment providers, first responders, prevention specialists, and healthcare professionals who show up every day to offer direct support to people living with substance use conditions and their families.
At the same time, one overdose is one too many, and our work is not finished. Access the full press release: https://tinyurl.com/3hpr7emc and visit preventoverdoseri.org/the-task-force to find local resources and be a part of this important statewide work.
